Heading for the sun, sea and SAND! 😄

Just to tease you all this is the lovely pork joint we had yesterday and tonight for tea, with enough left for another meal! :tounge:

Well we're well and truly fed up of 'route barree' signs ... loads of road works and diversions, the poor satnav had a hissy fit a few times due to new roads being built with detours taking us into what it thought was the middle of fields ... that was in addition to the wrong turns that hubby took too (too keen to take the 'next exit' on roundabouts!).

Stopped at Briare Pont du Canal for lunch and a nice potter with the dogs, topped up with fuel at Carrefour Saran at €1.869 a litre which was the cheapest I could find on the 'Fuelio' app on our route. Now parked up at St Pourcain sur Sioule near the stadium (73 MH places all free!!!) but there's an interloper though who's taking up 4 spots which doesn't appear to be going down well with at least one of the MH owners (French I think) who was having a word with the female occupant as he passed.

We had a nice potter with the dogs by the river then back to wash-up and have tea etc, coolish but not as bad as it was last night when it got below freezing, fortunately the boiler didn't drain though ... phew!

Few more photos for you ...

Little monsters having a snooze between the front seats (dash at left) whilst we travelled down to Montreuil once we landed in France.

Tazzy who has already remembered she used to be a 'cat'!

Finally the novel sign for the aire.

I came down the A23 today heading in the direction of Valencia, it was rainy and windy most of the way, i was expecting copilot to take me down almost to Valencia and then back up to my stop at Casinos, instead it decided to take me across the "short way" what a nightmare shear drops, roadworks where the carriage way was barely wide enough for the van and nowhere for an 8.3 mtr van to turn around, a proper mountain road, luckily there wasn't anybody else using the road or it would have been worse. It's the wiggly bit between Segorbe and Casinos below, if your sat nav says go that way i would suggest you ignore it.

No tolls on the part i went on which was from Longares to Segorbe, the services at the junction with the A-2511 had lpg at 0.908 ltr, as you enter the fuel station it's on the right away from all the other pumps, you have to go to the shop and ask them to turn the pump on, then go back and press the green button on the side, it takes a minute or two to zero the display and start working, there was an English speaking attendant who was very helpful. If this is your first lpg fill in Spain be aware my adaptor has a one way valve in it, which means there is no release of gas when you remove the nozzle however there is when you unscrew the adaptor so wear a glove or you risk getting a cold burn.

Edit: Unlike France, service stations in Spain don't seem to advertise that they have lpg in advance, so it's a good idea to check the mylpg app to see if there are any on your route.

Been down many a similar type of road with satnavs ... fun ain't it! 😳😄

Hi, thanks for the update ChrisL, we are docking in Bilbao then travelling to Calpe, using motorways (Zaragoza-Teruel-Valencia-Calpe) about 750-800 kms, l have the following apps installed
"mylpg.eu", "autogas", "gasall" and "fuelflash" the later is not an app, but a website, so hopefully we'll find lpg en route as l recon we will need 200-250 ltr of lpg each way, our American RV is quite a thirsty one, at 6803kgs, she does about 9-10 mpg on lpg, so still cheaper than on petrol, so without road tolls the costs will be less than we expected if we only need lpg.

There are two euro adaptors, the one without a non return valve is better and probably safer. 🙂 Bob

Good luck and enjoy your trip, there is an app for fuel flash however it's not available from the play store from the UK, search for fuel flash apk and install it from there or of course just keep using the website.l

Hi all, hope we enjoy it, it's been a long time coming, was due to do it last year, but Covid put paid to that, so fingers crossed and Brittany ferries don't do a "P&O"

Enjoy your trip away and have a really relaxing time. The bonus is that it is now relatively safe to go north on the Humber Bridge:wink::imoutahere:

There are loads of garages with lpg. if you see the price board lpg is always the bottom figure if they have it.
I use they A23 all the way from Huesca to Sagunto. The part from Huesca to the somport tunnel is in various stages of completion. there are no tolls on any of it.
It is called the Autovia Mudéjar & is basically a motorway

What do you mean ? 😉😂

Do the Spanish nozzles take both types? I have one with the non return valve that is a male connector, and another which is marked euro which is like a smaller version of the French one.

I have only seen one size, one with a non return and one without, the other size we know of was a duel fuel Citreon xantia we had and the inlet filling point was probably 10mm so smaller than the normal lpg filling adaptors. 🙂 Bob

We stayed put rather than moving on today, sitting out in the sunshine for a few hours and taking the dogs on a couple of walks and a play in the field which they thoroughly enjoyed.

We're in a quandary as to what to do now as the weather isn't going to be good in eastern Spain for quite a while. 😐

We're seriously considering going across to North Western Spain instead and spending some time there until the weather improves. Fortunately we haven't got so far through France that would make it silly cost wise to change our plans.

Typical though, our first foreign trip in over 2 years and it's already been a pain with all the roadworks and detours and now the flipping weather!!! Maybe we should just stay where we are for 2 months.🙄

I left Pamplona two days ago because it was cold wet and windy, i'm currently at Bigastro, the journey today from Casinos was pretty rainy, but it's been dry here and fairly warm, at least so far, not sure if that helps or not. I have friends here so i'm not relying on being outside, however it'd be nice to have a cruise around on the motorbike if the weather improves.
