Well, a new blank card worked fine today so its not the camera.:Smile:

Laurie, I posted the duff one today...............thank you! :thumb:

Great news about the Camera.

Lets hope the Data's ok and recoverable.:thumb:

Linda, do yourself a favour and buy an external harddrive which just plugs into a USB2 or pref Firewire port, so you can clear your cards and download all your images onto a harddrive dedicated to storing your photos after a phototaking session. You can buy drives ready to plug in with around 300GB storage space for about £70 via ebay or other online shops - its a good way to go.

:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Will do my best with the card - I know the pics mean a lot, and update you and everyone else interested by the weekend........:RollEyes:

There are a number of software packages that are around for this kind of data recovery - a few years ago when digital photography was in its infancy, I used a now-defunct IBM Microdrive - it was am amazing IGB in size at a time when Compact Flash cards could not go beyond 512MB.....went on a special holiday, used newly acquired (and now way out-dated) Canon EOS D60. Filled Microdrive. Arrived home - and......Microdrive failed.

Cost to recover precious pics = £250 (!) from a professional data recovery company - commercial recovery software for mere consumers wasn't around then.

So when I saw what looked like a decent package, cross-platform as well, I bought it and hoped we would never need it. But its been a great investment - well its recovered lots of pics for friends!! We have touch wood not had further failures as we stopped using Microdrives, which were mini-harddrives and subject to sudden death......and only buy pricey top end CF cards now (Sandisk Extreme IV )- the cheap ebay clones I stay away from!!

Recovery Software I used is DON'T PANIC 2 - by Image Recall. Lots of packages available now though, just take care to get one that doesn't just recover accidently deleted files; it needs to be a true smaller version of full commercial recovery software which can "see" beyond read/write errors and card hardware problems to recover your pics.

Poor Relations: sorry about loss of pics, is card now destroyed / history??
