newbie - again
We have had our new(to us) motorhome for a few weeks now and its been on hookup at the house.

Today we tried it off hook up and had one wee light on for about 30 mins and the battery went from 13ish volts to 10 volts.

Is my battery dud?

Any thought from you would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks again Marco

The only GEL battery that I have had was on a brand new van from the Detleffs group and from Lowdhams. The battery lasted all of 3 weeks! Lowdhams replaced it with an AGM that was fine. Lowdhams told me that Detleffs had stopped using GEL because of them failing. As I said, the AGM batteries that I have personal and considerable experience of have all been brilliant. I agree no-one wants unreliable batteries no never a GEL again for me, thank you!
Probable been left discharged while at the dealers.
You only need to search the forums particularly the German ones to find loads of reports of AGM's failing a lot in under a year by contrast loads of reports on Gels lasting many years some10 years or more. Our first van the Gel's were still performing like new when we sold the van at 6 years old.
All batteries you will get the odd dud one but Banner AGM's appear to hold the record. The worse thing about Banner is they won't honor their warrenty.

I have Varta AGM's in our new van but not through choice! My previous 2 new vans had Banner 95 amp AGM's (2) and they were great. I had the first van for 2 years and the new owner, another Funster, has had it 3 years and they are still going strong. The second van had the same set up and it is now almost 3 years old and the batteries are performing as they did new.

I hope the new van's Varta's are as good!
Fairly certain the slating that Banner was getting was in fact due to the electroblock chargers not charging them correctly resulting in failing batteries.

As I have said many time AGM's still failing with the correct chargers also Banner themselves said to charge them on the Gel setting which does a good job of wrecking them.

The Banner Energy Bull is flooded lead acid I think.

My previous 2 vans have had the Electroblock 99 and set on Gel as per Globecar instructions. No problems whatsoever with Banner AGM' installed. Slate them all you like, my own experience has proved that they are great and I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again.

Our new van has a different Elecroblock that that an AGM setting.

I have the Banner Lead Acid 100AH (200 cycles @50 % DOD) and very happy with them. They are classed as a Class B battery under the NCC verification scheme and that's exactly what I need.

It's an AGM Martin. Not like you to make an error!
Hi Philip

I am flattered by your confidence but I am often told that I am wrong.

But on this occasion why do you say it AGM, have I missed something, I thought Energy bull were wet and Running B and @moggyg did say about keeping it charged and topped up?

I expect they will pack up now that I've said this;);)(y)
