Has anyone used the French AireParkReservation system?

A few months on now. Has anyone used one? Thinking of using the one in Questembert.

I didn't think you were allowed to reserve Aires apart from the Camping Car Park ones.
That sounds like a bad move for Aires.

Seems they have a setup similar to CCP. We’ll see later today!

see the above post for info on the Guipry-Messac Aire, operated by them.

we didnt stay there, but it looked tidy and clean - and seemed to have a nice outlook and position by the Canal de Bretagne.
for the FLT's out there, there did appear to be lots of parking spots immediately outside on the road, which is only used by those on the Aire or accessing boat hire ..... its where i would have parked for the night, but the navigator didnt feel comfortable !!

Being in a fairly large motorhome, I like to know where I'm going and make sure I can get in and out, having said that I have not felt the need to reserve a space on an aire, camping car park tells you how many spaces are free at the time of looking and i also like to arrive by 3 ish so there's time to find an alternative, so far i've only had to take the alternative once and I wouldn't have had to do that if i'd read the comments on search for sites properly :giggle:. On this trip all my stops accept for ones at friends have been on aires many of them free, it’s a pity we have so few in the UK.

Does anyone know for certain about this, but I have always been under the impression that the reason communes provide Aires is that then gives them the right to control/regulate motorhome parking within the commune. Any benefit to local traders is incidental. If this is true, then the fact that communes try to minimize the cost of Aires, or indeed look on them as a source of revenue is understandable.

I'm not sure this outfit is the same as CCP. I think they are mainly a booking service as they claim to have over 1500 locations spread all over Europe. A bit like ACSI but instead of paying the site owner you pay this mob.

You can if you sign up for their Privelages pack which is about €25 a year, or something like that. You have to give them 48 hours notice to make a booking online which seems a bit excessive but thems the rules!

But you are not supposed to stay in a CCP aire more than 72 hours unless you have booked. Which is fine for most folk who are using them just overnight or over a weekend. But if anyone wants to stay a week in one, as we did at the beginning of this trip to cover Easter, then booking is required. What they would do if someone stayed more than 72 hours not having booked I don't know. Are there any volunteers who want to try it and report back? :)

I did say apart from the CCP ones.

I stayed at camping car park Utah beach from the 15th Feb until the 20th Feb this year without booking, no one said anything to me and no emails sent, but it was never anywhere near full.

We use camping car park quite often. You do not have to book to use them. Booking is an extra if you need it. What I do not understand with them is how you can book ahead for a date in a weeks time and be sure of a space since they do not know how long others on the site are staying, maybe they presume someone leaves every day??

If you look at any particular site, you will see how many places are available out of the total places at the site, when you book, the number of available places decrements by one, if you turn up un booked, even though there may be empty spaces if they are booked it won't let you in.

Hummmm.... knock knock knock! May I come in and join the conversation? Let's say yes!

OI.... Camping Car Park (CCP) is very good!
There must be now and then some alternative to being all stuck like sardines in a tin when it's time to find a stop over for 1 night or more!
1) a)You can book yes, I've done it, and honestly having had to drive (on my own) a long way I was happy to know that I would have a pitch with electricity (big fan to be used on EHU as very hot!!)
b) Really good when it's an aire next to the beach, no need to turn round and round and try to find some room somewhere else. I, of course, am still working, so indeed, all I want is get where I want to be , park, plug in, and off to the beach... too little time off. So what is not really good or necessary for someone , is, for someone else. CCP is a good solution for people like me. When roaming in Portugal with JJ, time was not a problem, and more than once we have parked ... on a lay by or found wonderful little places to park for the night.
2) Having to get through the CCP barrier, there is a count down each time someone gets in, which of course means, once the number of pitches is reached , no one can sneak in ... and you're not going to hear.. whatever... from the van(s) parked next to you. Sorry if I shock you, but I love to be at ease on a pitch, and not being part of the neighbours' life ... and vice versa!
3) I'm pretty sure there's an English version of their site

I don't remember all the posts but indeed most of the things I've read are not true.
CCP is good mainly for people who don't want a campsite, nor a lonely place they would feel unsafe if spending the night, or like me who want to go straight to a place knowing the pitch is there waiting for them.

Also, when you go shopping in your van , no one can take your pitch, you will have 1. May be not at the same place, but 1 for sure!

Now on the AirePark site at Questembert. Currently 5Euro 60 a night with electric. Rising to 7.60 in may. Ex municipal camping site. Has hard standing pitches too ( bit like a car park) but we are in grass. No booking just paid by credit card.

Wouldn't it be nice if the UK had such places to park-up....we would all be queueing up to join, pre-book and use....we have all enjoyed the freedom of free aires in France, but now it's a little different, it may cost a few Euros for a guaranteed place with some handy facilities....of course there are free locations, free parking too, so those who want this overnighting, so be it......it's so nice to have options, who knows one day we might not have...

We stayed for nearly two weeks on a Camping mon village CCP aire previously a municipal site. Nothing said, why should it be any different if you book.

The thing with camping car parks is they appear to have taken over municipal campsites, in some cases giving them a bit of a refurb, but i'm not sure if they've actually built any new ones, it would be great if someone actually built a chain of aires around the UK run in a similar manner, but they would need some sort of legal protection from undesirables, that enabled immediate eviction without going through lengthy court procedures.

I think most of the municipal campsites they’ve taken over are branded as “Camping de Mon Village” - same organisation but different label.

They’ve certainly taken over some municipal aires and run them as CampingCar Parks, but they have also created some new ones of their own, I think.

Bumping this up and I came across AirePark last night for the first time when looking for somewhere to go next week. They still don't have an app, but the website looks easy enough to use.

Wondering if anyone had more recent experiences with them as this thread seems to be the only reference to the organisation on the forum ?

We stayed in one in Pontigny back in November. We didn't book - just turned up and paid at the machine to enter. Seemed easier as I found the website hard to understand. It was a nice place - 7 Euros but that was just to park. EHU was another 7. Water was 1 euro and I think Black waste was too. We were able to dump grey for free. There was a toilet but it was just a public loo essentially. I think there might have been a shower - not sure.

The services were outside the actual Aire so available to all. Inside the barrier was just a parking space and EHU (if you paid for it) Nice parking spaces with hedges around each one.

So basically ok but perhaps expensive if you want all the services. Very similar to campingcarpark but without the need to buy a card first and services priced separately. - so if you don't need services it's cheaper than campingcarpark.

We have a CCP card and we have found them generally to be okay. I'm guessing AirePark are going to be similar in quality.
