Has anyone used the carparks in Blackpool for a couple of nights.

Forgot to say sea views as well, if you find the right spot on the prom. Freeport not freeborn.

I see you are supposed to be able to park near the football ground carpark, has anyone done it? What's it like?
I would not personally use it given my knowledge of blackpool underline, and especially not when blackpool football club are at home.

Nor me, last time I was there a few thugs came out of the football ground and smashed the place up. Not for me.

No they go through the year , more weekend DA meets than holiday sites in winter but the St Annes cricket club is on 7th Dec -4th Jan, have to be careful with weather on grass with a motorhome but St Annes has a fair bit of hardstanding and a clubhouse, I was at Skipton over the weekend on the auction mart which was all hardstanding and loads there (almost 100) . Southport this weekend hopefully. They also vary from booking and just turning up or phone call to see how busy it is but can be checked here. Incidentally the St Annes meet is offering temp membership for £3.50 plus £3 per person.
We'll be at Southport this w/e...we'll look out for you both.

We stayed 2 nights (can only stay max 3 nights) at Fleetwood Central car park (opposite The Mount Hotel) and it’s brilliant! Dedicated motorhome bays, £5.10 for 24 hrs (pay by Ring go app or phone) and can come and go as you please during that time. Beach on one side, coast path on the other. Tram into Blackpool or drive and return. TIP - don’t drive illuminations Friday, Saturday or Sunday, it takes hours, midweek much quieter! Cafe at end of car park, Asda, takeaways and Freeport in Fleetwood itself. Very quiet and great stopover - on Park4night app.

We've stayed a few times at st Anne's car parks. There are 2. One is behind the YMCA near the pier almost on the beach and the other 20 mins walk towards Blackpool. You'd have to get the bus or taxis but we never had any problems there. 🤞

Oh well, woke up this morning to a gurgling noise, pipe come off the boiler and the pump had emptied all the water, so a quick break this was , could have put it back but then we would have had to find some water and fill it again, so havnt bothered, had a leisurely breakfast and back on the motorway.
Must be the relief valve on the boiler stuck with no use.
Anyway ,the park was fine , no real noise and no one about, definitely use it again if we ever come again but I think it's probably another one crossed off my never going again list .

Yeah that's the one, we back home now.

Only 1 night on a car park with a pop bottle for the toilet..

Happy days. 44 years later and were still in the back of a van.... Slightly improved..

Got back about half past two, all fixed at four, as I said could have fixed it there but got no water , usually have four 25 litre drums under the seat in case we run out when in France but took them out for this trip

We have been at Southport Waterside Scouts Site for the past 2 days. Good facilities if required. EHU Some hard standing pitches. I have one . It is right by the Pier , usual fast food outlets KFC,MCD, Pizzahut, and Marstons pub 5 minutes away. On Lord Street, the main drag there are many non chain shops and Arcades.
For upper market eating the Bistro Pierre looked very good value. Another hotel on the opposite had a very good looking restaurant. The lakes are good for all water sports. There is parking with hookup behind the amusement park but much longer walk to town .
Past a pleasant couple of days here off to the lakes now.

I must remember to do that, I didn't realise that they don't have water in France

Not where we go they dont
Never use campsites, and if we find a couple of Aires in a row with dodgy taps we aren't fussed as we have back up.
In fact we have more back up than actual tank (y) ;)

Fair play to Blackpool/Lytham for trying to welcome motorhomers. Does anyone know any other coastal holiday towns that provide overnight parking at all?

Must say where we parked was excellent for what we wanted, close to sea, tower, town centre and a McDonald's just about 50 yds away if you want one.
No service's, but no regimentation, just white lines that could be used by motorhomes or coaches, no cars, just a machine that takes cards, choose how much you want and press the button, simples.
Was very surprised actually as a while ago Blackpool had a bad reputation for motorhome parking, or lack of.
Very good all round. (y) (y)

Surprising what a bit of constructive negotiation can do isn't it? :)
All too often, local authorities just see people complaining and, understandably, in some cases turn off.
Brian Flower recognised positive approaches and persuaded the authority to try.

The same happened at St Annes and Wyre (Fleetwood).

But these are a case of what we need that you keep arguing against with your 60s law.
Just a car park that's doing nothing at night, no changes needed except maybe different lines but that's it.
Why can't all councils see that.

I don't keep arguing against them, merely pointing out that it has to be done in the right way, that the car park has to be suitable and that it isn't something that would succeed everywhere. That's what councils see, rather than just going ahead willy nilly.
In the majority of cases there are changes to be made. Apart from making bay sizes bigger, which obviously has a cost, car parks only have planning consent for parking so there is a requirement to obtain planning consent for camping and that also has a cost.
Then there are changes to the charging arrangements, including amendments to the software in the "machine that takes cards".

Resurrected thread ! Wish I’d seen the price hike on this thread before we arrived. Hadn’t been for over a year and mum and her friend decided we should stop here tonight, just as well the oldies paid. If they weren’t here I’d have been parking on the beachfront.

Won’t be back £15 with no services to be squashed in like sardines isn’t value for money for me. 😂

Come up to Fleetwood, it's cheaper or free depending how you travel, 5 min walk or so to tram.

I would’ve but they have already paid here at St Annes and they are off to the cinema to see Elvis. Some quiet time for me for a few hours 👍

Well, going to give it a go tomorrow, if you are there and see an ambulance parked up, give us a shout (y) :giggle:
Will you have a Defibrillator with you? 🤪

We're now heading down the east coast of the UK.
Stoping off on the way down at a few places
That might be interesting
