Our skylight suddenly flew off today on the Spanish motorway north of San Sebastián.
It hung on by one corner and husband grabbed a part of it to stop it flying off. We stopped when we could and wrapped a cord around it and tethered it to the table below, then put loads of duct tape on.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Will it take ages for the part to arrive in Spain ? I don’t think this one can be repaired as a piece came off.
We’re going to limp to Peniscola where we’ve reserved and hope we can sort it out from there.
Any ideas?

There are a couple of caravan and motorhome places you could try if you make it towards Peniscola....

I picked up a copy of ACSI from there in January. They have a workshop as well as sales.

Edit.. this link takes you to their sales page but it will provide you with contact details.

When we were at Peniscola in January, some friends visited them with a faulty lock. They ordered a new one and sorted it within a week.

Another tip...
Go to Google maps and navigate to the area you want to search. In the Search box, type " autocaravanas " without the quote Mark's and it should list dealerships etc.

Good Luck.

If you can weild a screwdriver, removal is very easy. The clean up can be messy, but an old credit card and white spirit are your friends. The re-bed on new sealant and do the screws back up evenly but not too tight. You don't want to squeeze all the sealant out

Replacement skylights are easy enough to get hold of and it is usually better to replace the whole thing rather than just the dome. Plastic ages quickly and goes brittle

This place has the part in stock and they’re fitting it tomorrow 🎉🎉. Many thanks jongood
Cost €1347!!
Amazingly Aviva (Comfort) approved the claim and put the money (less our excess) into our account before the repair was even done!
Very grateful. We’re spending the night on their forecourt in the industrial zone which is a small price to pay for the convenience of being able to carry on our holiday tomorrow.

Back hinged and we were doing about 80 most of the day. Very strong sideways winds for two days and driving rain.
What size is it a mini or a maxi? The minis are easy enough to fit if you can get on the roof its a shame you ve gone so far down as I remember a dealer in valledolid area who had lots in stock. There is a workshop in Valencia

great news, can I suggest that if it is rear hinged, might it be possible for them to fit the hinges at the front, or is there a good reason for it to be rear hinged?
