There used to be issues with some sites but now, instead of banning Hobbys, some ban tag axles for the same reason.🤷‍♂️

What’s a tag axle?

A vehicle with two axles (and four wheels) at the back. When viewed from the side, you see one wheel at the front and two wheels near the back. Like this:

Not only Hobby but also LMC have known to be banned from sites.

I have come across several sites that either ban tag axles or limit them to a few pitches.
The main reason is they tear up the grass, nothing to do with the potential occupants!

Definitely one site in Porthmadog that won't take Hobby caravans.

I understand Twin Axle Tabbert vans - built by Knaus - are the absolute Bees' knees's when it comes to Traveller vans. The reason being 'Tabbert' will custom build the vans without a toilet in the van, they use a smaller van for toilet purposes. Hence you usually see two vans in convoy.

I suppose hobby and tabert must be be very good build quality if travelling people use them full time??

The last caravan we had was a Hobby, never had any problems with sites.
Awful lot of Hobby's about, they are Europe's largest Caravan manufacturer.

When a group of these people turned up and occupied our local par, the park was closed when they left because it was deemed to be a health hazard. They didn’t have toilet facilities just used the hedge, how hygienic is that? Don’t have a toilet in the living accommodation that’s dirty, crap in the hedge, no problem.

How do Hobby m/homes differ from other makes which attracts itinerants to them? Outwardly they seem the same as many other makes.

I think it was Abbey Wood that a heated “discussion” started after a “traveller” tried to get on the site to no avail (was 10 years ago though)

When I read the first post in this thread I assumed 'Hobby' meant a self built van, built by a hobbyist. Cannot see any reason a specific mainstream van would be banned.
