Happy St George’s Day - why no 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 flag?

I note that we don’t have an England flag flying on the forum banner today, yet it’s St George’s Day!

Have a great one; whatever you may be up to! ✔️
You are a bit premature, it's tomorrow and the flag is not for St George it's for me as its my birthday 😉

I'm sure some might see your post as proof that Starlink and Elon are messing with your head .... 😆

Thanks for the reminder - I have changed our profile pic in support of our nations day...it's a shame it goes unnoticed most of the time - we need to become more patriotic like other countries. If we get prouder about England, then England would become prouder. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The St George's flag seems to have been hijacked by the far right
It's time we took it back and displayed it proudly. Nothing to do with the far right any more than the Union flag is.

Take care when posting patriotic topics like this.

There are folk "out there" who will find this thread offensive, racist and not in keeping with the cultural aspects of EDI, . . . and I don't mean Electronic Data Interchange. ::bigsmile:

I have flown my, (now quite wind-frayed) flag of Saint George for many years, and it will fly proudly once more tomorrow.

As an aside, according to our PM, I am far right;
As a lad, I read Biggles books, went to a Grammar School, was a member of the Boy Scouts, am now an OAP, am ex-military, and sadly I am white. . . . all of which are factors in determining one's "degree-of-rightness", in today's mad mad world.

:winky: ::bigsmile:

The only person who has ever commented negatively about my flying a St George flag was the miserable Scottish guy who.lived opposite at the time. When I pointed out the Saltire on his car being displayed all year round, he went quiet.

I am proud to fly the Suffolk, England and British emblems, especially on the appropriate days.

I also have the Irish and Welsh flags as have both In our history. I have even really pleased an American living locally by flying the Stars and Stripes on 4thJuly. We should celebrate all the nations.

I like many these days am unsure whether its PC to celebrate or fly The Flag of St George without causing offence to some, as there will always be some I guess, and why would they be offended?
So I took the time to find out a bit more as to be honest I didnt have very much knowledge on the subject, I found this article interesting, hope you all do also.

I am a flyer of flags, and I will fly the St George's Cross tomorrow. I do object to the versions with 'ENGLAND' written across them though, as I think it's a pretty poor thing if people don't know their own flag without needing the name written on it. 🤨
I have quite a few flags and pennants in my collection, and a sectional flagpole which I can fit to my van, upon which to fly them if I'm away from home.

Bit premature and anyway, shouldn't it be a Turkish flag? :)

The St George's flag seems to have been hijacked by the far right so if I see it outside a house it doesn't shout patriot to me. English folk seem far more parochial and fly county flags if they're that way inclined.
Not that I think it has , but they might as well , as nobody else seems to make much use of it.

Every St Georges day a Celt will pop on the St Georges day thread and deride the day, the flag, the saint as best they can. Some of them just can't help themselves.

I’m only a tiny bit Celtic, but I’ll happily deride saints on any day. It’s just something that comes naturally

I think they are soccer versions. But no worries, if its all they have and they fly it tomorrow, why not, it's the sentiment that counts.
