Half a tank of fuel

It depends what kind of half you're talking about. When my granddaughter cuts a cake in half, I always get the small half🤣

Yes I had that problem with the kids.... #Dad their bit is bigger than mine#...
Answer.. give one child knife and before they cut tell them their sibling gets first choice of the bits left.
Result... two millimeter perfect halves.
Easy peasy...who said parenting wiz difficult.😊😊

A true half tank for my VW T6 would be £73.60 at that price per litre, 80litre tank. However I am happy as it does a whisker under 35mpg (over all calculation of 70,000 miles). the replacement MAN TGE won't do as well!

Filled mine up in Luxembourg last week at €1.95. Got to Gravelines and it was €1.69!! I had only used 1/2 a tank. Gutted!

In Tredegar you could have bought a house at auction for less. Guess who's been watching reruns of homes understeer hammer :whistle2:
Just don’t watch cash in the attic. Just saying…..

Never understood that thinking..
A water separator will remove all condensation contamination.
You don’t want it there in the first place. Anaerobic bacteria in the fuel tank fuel/water interface is your enemy, not the water……

Like most on here I have a motorhome that I regularly use.. It needs fuel.. if it dont get fuel... it don't to get to use it.
Therefore if I want to use it.. I have to fuel it..
I could leave it to rot on my driveway and go and book into a hotel..
Yep they are also really really dear now.
So what to do.. stay at home and get miserable.. go to a hotel and get ripped off.... or give your local garage 2/3/4 pound a litre and get out there and enjoy yourself.
Come on you cheep skates get to a pump near you and fill up the love of your life.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Oki doki.. you are obviously in the know on this subject...Apparently??
So how quickly will this so called awful anaerobic bacteria develope in my fuel system. I have never had it..have you?.
Lots of threads on here about keeping battery's topped up and controlling moisture in vans over winter and the consensus is dealer's don't heat, don't have on EHU and definately dont have dehumidifiers
When was the last time you viewed a van with a full fuel tank....nope did not think so .. been on forecourt for Xmonths with all those awfull gremlins in tank ,,, but you bought it anyway.

At my local Shell garage unleaded is something like £1.63 but diesel is £1.91.

Whats that all about?

It used to be my job. Fuels and fuel quality. Thankfully the “diesel bug” is not common in land vehicles though a friend did have massive issues with the fuel in her horse box as it forms a sludgy material which blocks filters. It happens a bit in the marine environment with yacht fuels where the tank is left at low level typically over winter and condensation develops. The bacteria can form in the oil water interface And even with biocides can be difficult to get rid of but the sludge is the major problem. One ships diesel tank we had to dispose of about 30 tonnes of fuel and physically clean the tank. I still have a bug testing kit in the garage!

When returning from a trip I always fill the tank. As I said, it is rare and you are right - loads of vans sat around on forecourts with empty tanks. The risk is very low, but having experienced the issue first hand I minimise The risk

Relative supply and demand Chris. Gasoline demand is always lower in the winter, but exacerbated this year by relative surpluses in USA where the summer driving season ( yes, it is a thing) did not develop. Due to the embargoes on Russian diesel although demand is lower, supply is also short and people do stock up on winter fuel for heating. It is a lot more complicated than that but that is it in a nutshell.

I only ever put £40 -£60 in and only when it gets below quarter tank.
The price might drop next week :drinks:
Yer avin a tin baff.

No wonder it takes you so long to get to Spain.

I'd make an exception before Thursday if I were you.;)

I always fill my motorhome and car up with fuel when it gets to half a tank. A habit I have had from when I started driving. Today I filled up in Asda at Tredegar, it was just a smidge above half, fuel was £1.84 a litre. How much did it cost me for half a tank if fuel. Answers below. (y)
Was it half empty or half full when you topped up?

There is a different a way of holidaying in a motorhome besides tearassing to a beach in Spain.

We usually wander / meander though France and Germany for five weeks at a time.
We hardly ever have any destination, we just see what we can find every day.
We also stop at a supermarket almost every day for a baguette and to choose what we are going to have for our tea.

Because we never travel far in a day (there are garages every few miles) £50 of fuel can last us 4-5 days :drinks:

The van is laid up for the winter so the price of fuel wont be an issue until next April - but thanks for the tip:hi5:

£70 used to get me from Sunderland to Dover in my Burstner.
Back in the 90s I used to reckon £10 per 100 miles with a transit..and back in the 60s I could buy 8 gallons of petrol for the price of 1 litre now,,,not that I could ever afford 8 gallons back then.BUSBY.

Depends what sort of separator some of the ones I've seen have a pretty small collection container after that it would go straight through. There's also an increased risk of getting bugs in the tank with water in it. I can't see many drawbacks of keeping the tank topped up.

Currently around 25p gap between diesel and petrol.
It used to be 4p.
Many homes in the USA use diesel for domestic heating so a massive demand leaving less for the rest of us.

Concern over "diesel bugs" is probably rife here as a significant number of us come from a leisure marine background.

The only thing that BUGS me about Diesel is the price.

Wife's sister in law came from Tredegar, interesting place , going back to diesel costs we pay £ 186.9 a litre
