View attachment 566910 I took this photo from the drivers seat as we started down the 21 hairpins of L'Alpe D'Huez.

Forgot to mention i was on the back of a lowloader. The first couple of bends scared the crap out of me!

My wife and I cycled (pushbikes) up the 21 Virages of L'Alpe D'Huez a few years ago. Didn't break any records! but our time coming down was slower that the Tour de France record for the ascent :-(. (It was foggy!)

My all time favourite bendy road....

Driven up and down loads of times when we went to look at buying a villa out there...

Not my filming... :xsmile:

.

What amuses me in the mountains on a motorbike is thrashing past the cyclists going up just to have them overtake me on the downhills. They seem fearless😩
One of my most memorable rides...
We'd cycled up D'Huez to watch Lance win on the only time they've used it for a Time Trial.
All done, "we'll meet up at the bottom".
As everyone was getting off the hill I flew down, weaving in and out of people, coaches, lorries. The gendarmes were screaming whistling and flailing their arms madly to get us to slow down. I didn't of course!
Bonkers🤣🤣🤣

My wife has a few of these in her collection
hairy hairpins 🤪👍🥃😷

The drive down to Susa from Mont Cenis is tidy.
Better than Fréjus Tunnel 😂

I was tour leader for BMW for a few years.

Good tips. Ridden so many passes on the bike. For degree of difficulty non were as challenging as The Hardknott Pass.
Also done the Grossglockner but yet again not on the bike. I did that once in my M5 and once in the Velar.
Agree. Hardknott ain't easy.

another dose off sunshine to brighten up your evening.

The drive across the Elan Valley on a sunny afternoon is a real pleasure. I did it some 20 years ago in my then MR2 GT T-Bar. Great fun!

There is a road from Beulah that goes to West Wales. The Devil’s Staircase. Awesome road and scenery. Over the mountains. Very challenging on a motorbike in some places.

I think this is on my wife's bucket list for the tandem as a non shengen country to visit. Watch this space!

Now that i'll need to see some pictures of, video even better and i bet you two will do it as well.

Itching to get back to Europe and beyond.
Will probably be pulling a trailer with either a bike or can on it, will decide nearer the time.

Bit further afield but The tail of the dragon in Tennessee has 318 bends in 11 miles with the Tree of Shame at the end. Lots of adverse cambers on the bends, we managed to complete it two up on a wing without visiting the Tree of shame.
