Hi everybody and was just wondering how much folks pay these days for a habitation check ? I have to have mine done every year to keep the 10 year water ingress warranty and it seems to go up every year ! £296 this year for what seems to be just a 3 hour check ! .

I wonder how many persons doing Habitation Checks are qualified to sign gas and electric safety certificates for MHs, i.e. for 12v/230v and propane/butane installations.

Do they check for undersize/overloaded wiring, loose terminals, oversize fuses etc., that can cause fires?

Why do manufacturers giving 10-year damp warranties insist on a damp check? If found it triggers the warranty which means they have to pay to fix it. OK, so if damp is caught early the fix might be cheaper than if left to cause more problems.

Coming from an Aviation background, even as a pilot of whom most aviation engineers would say we 'know nothing', I am appalled at the low standards applied to the MH industry, with the exception of some reputable manufacturers, but even there quality control seems to be slipping.

Anyone on the Approved workshop scheme can do hab check work on Adrias and the warranty is maintained

Yes, had ours completed last year by the local Approved Workshop mobile engineer, who completed the required Adria paperwork for the 10 year water ingress warranty. This year I don’t need the rest of the hab check done, and as the moho is booked in for the 2 year Fiat service with the dealer, I’ll ask them to just do the damp check and certification.
