Habitation check

Blimey, you were lucky - an exploding battery can propel acid a fair way. Keep an eye on your new battery and check it's not being over-charged would be my first step!
How do I check it’s not being over charged?
Thanks

Put a multi-meter across the terminals. A fully charged battery that's not on charge should read about 12.6 volts. If it is on charge it should read something like 13.7-14.7 volts - at least that is what an alternator puts in to an engine battery - maybe someone on here with a Hymer can check what their hab battery reads when they're on hookup? Anything more than that, or if your battery feels hot or is gassing a lot, implies a problem.

Doesn't need an expensive multimeter, I keep a little one like this in the van all the time, good enough for any running repairs.

Hope that helps
