I have just had my habitation check done at the same time as my first MOT. Stupidly, I didn't ask the price before hand, I thought it was about £80-100. I have just picked it up and they charged £258 + VAT! I was absolutely astounded. I just feel a bit ripped off tbh. My own fault for not checking but the guy was saying it took at least 4 hours and they did 40+ tests, etc. I am sure the last one I had done was less than £100.

I am curious, what do people pay for their Hab check?

I've always believed that it is illegal, in connection with a warranty, to insist that required services must be carried out only by the issuing party. So long as the required servicing is done, that is sufficient.
Isn't that only for cars?

The same applies to the vehicle part, but presumably not to the habitation /body construction part.

Sorry only just logged on and seen your post
He lives in Suffolk and does mobile work in the County so might be good for you
I live near Chelmsford so we compromise and I meet him at Tescos Ipswich
Was recommended a few years ago by another funster (Dux Delux) on the basis of providing a comprehensive service
If you are interested I can pm you his contact details
Please can you PM his details. Thanks Phil

Full hab check required by swift or ingress warranty will be void.
I have this in writing from Swift.

Just been quoted £342 by our supplying dealer 😱. They said it can be done elsewhere as long as NCC approved. BUT, if we did that, and there are any damp issues, the supplying dealer would have to make the claim at £65 for the warranty submission. We'll use the dealer for the first one, then go elsewhere next year.

4 hours is ridiculous. Adria dealer does mine for £200 inc vat but it was an offer if I booked it 2 years ago. You can use the Approved workshop Scheme to find somewhere else next time. Adria recognise the scheme for keeping the water ingress warranty. https://www.approvedworkshops.co.uk/find-approved-workshop
I've just booked mine in for it's annual check and was struggling. Could find several NCC Approved work shops that Swift will acknowledge for their warranty, but the issue is if they do find anything Swift insist that you use their list of approved work shops that is different from NCC work shops. I thought best to use one on their list so if any problems found I won't have to move it from a NCC work shop. I do hope this makes sense.

Yep that's the case with Swift I found out even if you use a NCC Approved Workshop if any warranty work is required you then have to use an Approved Work Shop that is on the My Swift Life and these are totally different to NCC Workshops. It is very confusing but found it out when I had water ingress claim.

I can't quote the legislative background but my understanding is that it applies to any warranty on anything. You can't issue a warranty that is made conditional upon you making further money out of it, eg by insisting on only you being able to service etc.
