Hab service v staying home.

I was due to have my warranty damp check and a garage leak done in Daventry tomorrow and leave the MH there for a week as they could not guarantee to do the work in the short term ie one day. Driving up was not an issue as I would be on my own. The thought of a 4 1/2 hour train journey back to Devon did not appeal as I am now classed as “elderly”. So I cancelled. They are Contacting Hymer about warranty extension. I will wait and see! If they do not appear to be reasonable under the circumstances so be it!

Has anyone heard back about their warranty checks? Ours is due and we don’t want to take the MH out.

I emailed the "warranty manager" at Preston Motorhomes yesterday explaining the situation. Awaiting a reply.

I know Bailey have changed the rules in light of the Corona Virus, I expect others will do the same. They have basically said they will allow a grace period of a month either side but this would be monitored.

, giving the steering wheel, ignition key, gear lever and hand brake a wipe down with antiseptic wipes when I get there, go for a long, lonely walk and then a good wipe down when I set out to come home.

The above advice is now mandatory at our local council MoT test center when leaving a vehicle for test, especially Taxis
The council is also discussing closing the depot with all office staff gearing up to work from home.
MoT tests carried on your drive will be interesting :rofl:
Nothing been said yet about the actual test centers closing

Our Burstner was booked for Friday into Southdowns motorhomes for its year 1 damp test (as required by the warranty).

contacted today that Southdowns are cancelling all bookings, however, they have been in touch with Burstner and have advised me it will NOT affect our warranty.

They hope to start rebooking at the end of April...

We're booked into Southdowns and we've just heard that our booking was cancelled. The Laika factory in Italy is closed so they can't get in touch with them.

I had an appointment for Max 9kms away for an hydrogen descaling, which is really important for MOT. Unfortunately with the CV 19 my MOT is cancelled, so It won't be valid anymore when we go back to normal. So I decided to print the form and go as the garage told me to come along they will only close tonight. So there, once it's done never mind if the gendarmes check me, they can only send me back home with a fine...

We too were booked into Southdowns for a habitation check, MOT and engine service next Thursday. Phoned to see if they had had any cancellations before that but there were none. Southdowns have cancelled the habitation and damp check and put is on the list for April phone call to rebook. The MOT and service are done by Fiat garage and that is still going ahead I am to take the MH there myself.
Southdowns have said that the habitation check and warranty will be ok. The warranty is with Southdowns as it wasn’t bought from new.

Anybody with a Weinsberg or Knaus, I received the following response from their customer services concerning warranty checks:

Due to the current situation we decided to extend all deadlines such as services, leakage tests and warranty claims.
You don’t have to worry about that we make restrictions if you don’t keep the deadlines.
We hope you’ll find this information useful and wish you all the best.
Best Regards

I have been advised that AutoSleeper will add 1 month to the 60 days after registration to the warranty period. I have an email to that effect.

After waiting unsuccessfully for a reply to my question about extending Hab warranties to both Preston Caravans and Motorhome and Chausson directly. It would seem that the Chausson dealers have shut up shop for the duration, therefore I guess that automatically the warranty will extend.

Id never heard of Hydrogen descaling till now. It is a method of theoretically removing carbon deposits from diesel engines, but seems to be a French thing. Google only comes up with one reference and that is a French company. Frankie, do tell us if it does any good, the company claims quite a lot for the process but as they seem to be the sole supplier of the equipment they may not be that reliable.

Mines due in march.
Travelworld have given me 6 months grace.

Mine was booked in for the annual damp check last Tuesday, dealer emailed last week cancelling the appointment until further notice.
Couldn't have gone there anyway with the travel restrictions as my Hymer dealer is in Belgium.

Bailey website confirming a 4 month extension to the date any hab check is required to maintain warranty.

Got a reply from Chausson;

The warranty will be honour if :

- Services of the previous years have been performed by a Chausson dealer and registered and with regard to the warranty terms.

- If the vehicle still in its 5 years watertightness warranty.

- If it is delayed in a reasonable time

And this reply today from Preston Motorhomes;

HI

I had feedback on Saturday, Chausson are extending same as all other manufacture’s, as soon as we are back in we will need to get your van in for a service they are extending by 3 months as it stands. We will be in touch once we are up and running.

spoke to our dealer, adria have agreed to postpone without detriment to warranty, all hab checks for warranty, water ingress etc

Our first service and hab service were due today. Our dealer is closed, but Autotrail have said that they will honour any late services due to this virus.(y)
