Guide to getting online with FON / BT WiFi & SFR in France

Don't forget to change it back when you get back to the UK or better still use an a address that does not conflict with France or UK.

Now you are connect how is it working?
In June this year I found took ages for the login page to load and ages to logon once logged on it worked OK but would need re-logging in after 30min the 1st time, and then every hour a pain in the butt, always dropped the connection when downloading something important, not had problems before.

Evening all. :)

Staying on the "Internet across the water" theme, it has been suggested to me that a gateway address of 192.168.10.20.30.40 may cover most situations/locations.
@Addie , (or anyone who knows) would that just apply to the iBoost equipment, or would it cover all mobile WiFi routers including the ALFA R36?

I'm just about to set ours up using Lenny's suggestion of 192.168.1254.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I've actually now set mine to 19.168.10.254, any private address that doesn't conflict should work but you need to make sure you have the right subnet for the range.

Whilst messing about, I have tried 192.168.10.20 and the router has rebooted, and is working a treat.
I did also try 192.168.1.254, but as @lennyhb pointed out above, I had to revert back to the default address.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Sorry Lenny, but you've got me on that one. :( (not hard, I know ;) ).

Cheers,

Jock.

As it's working I won't bother explaining, but the default subnet for 192.0168.1.xx is 255.255.255.0which is OK for 192.168.10xx as you found out or it wouldn't have worked.
