Stuck on the A11.
Battery light came on thenwarer temp gauge went to max, now waiting for the AA and Nationwide,, I think it's an alternator issue.

Not sure if it can be fixed roadside.

Dave,

Sorry to hear of breakdown.

Stab in the dark for diagnosis from me - are alternator and water pump driven by same belt? Snapped or maybe slipping badly as adjustment has slackened off?

I do not mind if you tell I am talking b*llocks.

Geoff

Sounds like belt gone , easy fix usually , if you have a fairly common base vehicle

If the breakdown has the right size belt.

If not, old trick was to make a belt out of a pair of tights - pity you have no need for those.

Are you sure? Just sayin like :whistle2:

:giggler::giggler:
I've offered to crochet one as we have plenty of wool, no tights though unfortunately 😃

Not a good end to your trip, hopefully the saving in diesel to get home will offset some of the cost of a new belt, and no further damage done.

Looks like the fan belt and water pump..

Long day.

We had a handful of old V belts on each truck.
You could usually find one that would suffice.... Maybe have to shoehorn it on or maybe a bit slack at full tension but always got the customer mobile with the warning..... Go get the correct one fitted ASAP

Main reason I won't use AA.
If you're a long way from home it can be next day before you get home.
It's time they abandoned the rediculous relay system.

Usually if they are slipping they squeal like a stuffed pig.
