We have tried the fiamma mats (ours were yellow) found them useless 
at Chester.

We then bought the roll out rubber grip mats (saw a video of them working
), they failed 
at Peterborough.

We then tried out a pair of Milenco Giant Lattice Grip mats in Wales when we got stuck getting up a slope on a pitch at Bala, they worked

We promptly bought a set as they are light, big and really did help us off an uphill pitch that we had got stuck on. Whether they would have worked at Chester (doubtful) or Peterborough (probably) I do not know but have some faith in them.
