I've just come across an interesting line in gadgets - grey water dribblers!

The photos show a twin pipe system for caravans but you can get single pipe version for MHs. There's a filter in the square housing and a line of small holes on the underside where the filtered water dribbles out.

I think they are missing a trick. The whole thing should be built into a small bucket which you could put under the grey water outlet so it looked as if you were collecting the waste water in the bucket. :)

Or just wait until it gets dark and open the tap.*

* So I'm told...

But to work properly the bucket needs holes in the bottom.
On a more serious note when we first started out in a motorhome we were advised, when wild camping or on grassed sites was to collect straw and cut grass into plastic bag( in the days when they were plentiful) and prick the bag full of holes with a large needle or similar and tie it in to the end of the waste pipe. This would filter off any waste products and allow the strained water to percolate into the ground without leaving any bits behind.
When you wanted to move just put the bag with grass and bits into a waste container. (y) (y)

‘There’s a hole in my bucket, dear Lisa, dear Lisa, there’s a hole in my bucket, dear Lisa, a hole’

(Bet you start singing that now….!!😉)
Well fix it dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry, well fix it dear Henry, dear Henry fix it.

these have been around for a while. Every so often someone asks why the CAMC ban them on their sites when they are advertised in their magazine. Saw a caravan using one on a CL a bit ago.

Hi.
When c/vanning some farm/cl sites in summer, would allow pipeing water from your waste outlet to the hedge. The " Bucket with holes in " was an old trick when we started in '73. I would imagine some people today, would not like to arrive at a site, pay good money...pitch up and find the area by their door access to be soggy.
Strange dying/burnt grass circles appeared on sites a few years ago on CC sites..... " Campers ?" dumping their Boilers/hot water tanks prior to moving off was to blame. Funny old world now with " Waste Masters " and drive over dumps....................................
Tea Bag.

Why not be as brazen as our fellow campers from Holland & just go straight for the Dutch dribble as seen all over Europe😁

There’s a name for the plastic bag filter but can I remember it ? No but it works well😉

Exactly what we do at scouts in green field campsites !

Bucket or heavy bin bag with holes , to strain the suds and food waste out

Hasn't there been one of these things out for years but I thought you put grass in them for a filter.

doing this can leave a pitch soggy and smelly for the next camper... not nice

but would be ok on a CL with a large camping area.. lots of places to pitch

On Cls I use a long hose into the hedge when permitted to do so

Don't any of you know how dangerous grey water is ?

Should be disposed of properly, in a GREY marked container, poured very carefully in a dedicated drain marked GREY water, preferably whilst wearing in GREY coloured HazMat suit with the correct safety badge

You'd think so anyway the way some of the squeamish people panic about a bit of soapy water with the odd pube in 😂

Cue the terrified motorcyclists that fear coming off if they hit a bit of sweetcorn, which is of course more dangerous than a pothole

I mostly Freedom Camp, in one place the land owner welcomes dribbling, as do three of the sites I may use.

In another area, which is not grass I monitor my dribbling as if it does not rain the is the evidence of damp ground, I'm not embarrassed but conscious that it might cause negative comments. Waiting until night is not an option as the damp area is still evident.

I do not dribble without thought and never near a water course, although I believe my grey water is less of a hazard that acid rain or that of the multi heaps of sheep, horse and cow poo in the area.

I stress that this is my grey waste, my cassette is only emptied into approved dumps!

Grey water is the stuff that Water Companies encourage us to water the garden with in times of drought, is it not?
Bath water and sink water?
Just stop pouring bacon fat down the plug hole is my advice………

I can't remember a CL that didn't want the grey water put into the bushes. None of the ones I have used had any gey disposal points. Just CWD raised off the ground.

Went to a CS near Penrith that had a drive over, but only one. Usually keen for you to water trees, hedges etc, especially if they have been doing some planting.

Southern African Motorhomes, campers and overland trucks don't even have a grey water tank, just an outlet for the water to gush out onto the ground.

indeed.. but it's a courtesy to ask where they want it disposed of
