Grey waste

Does this mean that the bikers that are scared of soapy water, don't take their bikes out when it is too cold or raining?

I guess that it must lol

Also how close do you have to be to be "splashed" by soapy water, trickling out of a small drain a few inches off of the road? I'd guess very close, which sounds a lot more dangerous that being splashed by some soapy water!

I have dump valves and can dump about 50 gallons of grey water on a tailgater at the flick of the switch! And my dump pipes are 75mm diameter!

Highway disposal is better still! The contents of the black tank (another 50 gallons, get ground up into a mushy paste and injected into the V10 exhaust manifold once Cherry red hot and vapourises instantly straight out of the exhaust pipe and down the road behind the camper!

Again only used for tailgaters!

Apparently it kills at least 90% of the harmful bacteria

(This is MHF remember!)

Why would anyone wait until off a site then open the waste at "full bore" presumably having stopped to do so then left a huge puddle as they walked back to the front of the van and got in/put seatbelt on handbrake off etc before driving away? Sounds to me like others have said much more likely just forgot to close the tap after emptying and its sloshing out on the corners. It still doesn't make it right but everyone can make a mistake. At least its visible on the road surface maybe if it was slippy you were pushing on a bit too much?

Love how it's my fault pushing it. Haha.

Ahh well you see its not nice when a camper vanner has accidentally left his grey water waste open for a motorcyclist to ride through it and advertise the fact by spraying all those nice cars behind him with dirty smelly water, be a bit more considerate please Dave (y)

Nope not scared of wet roads, but when you have a nice dry road and a sudden streak of water it can cause issues. I am home so obviously didn't cause me an issue. Wasn't tailgating, but I am sure you have been behind someone washing their winderscreen to see water spray on your screen and I think those water jets are a tad smaller. Just not a nice or safe practise in my opinion.

Love as a first time poster and having a little moan about something that I feel isn't a nice or safe practise I get accused of tailgating, pushing my bike too far ect. Was just interested in what others thought about this practice. Feeling welcome

My post was Tongue in cheek David like many other things I don't believe there are many who deliberately dump waste on the road but you always get those few as well as forgetful ones as well at least you have highlighted a reason why we should be more careful ;)

As a fellow biker I share your disgust at your experience.

Keep up the good work of complaining when you feel the need.

Pointing out something that you have no knowledge was a "well trodden path" as a Newbie, is not the worst thing in the world, hopefully you will decide that most of us are "FUN"sters. As a one time Motorcyclist (thats how old I am, I still refer to it by its "proper" name) I share your concern, I do know that anything that looks wet on the road is cause for concern, worst of all is Diesel!, The content of "grey" waste is way down the scale by comparison. Not nice, I accept. But being slapped on the visor by a "Fresh" Nappy is 10 times worse, as happened to a mate. The 6 of us ran them down and put the fear of god into them, I don`t think she will do it again, put it that way. With the car surrounded by 6 less than happy guys, I think the message went home.

Anyway dont take it to heart, your in, the FUN starts here.

6 bikers chasing down a mother with a young child? Bit OTT surely?

Although you didn't say what size of nappy it was. If it was the adult incontinence type then fair doos.

If she didn’t give a #### the first time she threw the nappy out do you honestly think she will change in the future, I don’t think so.

Like the same "mother" that thinks throwing a fresh nappy into the ether is "socially acceptable?. Riding into a discharged FAG END at speed is bad enough, SHIT on a nappy is gross!! However to clarify a Bit, We where`nt directly threatening but they guy who got hit was quite forceful in his opinion, the driver (I think,) got the message. His "lady" was in the back with the baby. The biggest joke was at the time not one of us was under 60!. We where more amazed that such behaviour was acceptable to this pair?.

Don’t get all snowflake on us.

That’s the preserve of English rugby supporters (y)

Dave, as you can see there is no honeymoon period on here! There are a few other more contentious subjects if you fancy getting everyone properly going...... and welcome to the Fun of course

We have a dog employed to do a pre-wash. Absolutely no grease goes down our drain. And knowing about this, no-one ever wants to dine with us, so that’s a useful bonus.

You may be joking but we have a friend who puts his plate on the floor for the dog ..

Feeling welcome

Don't worry Dave, you are most welcome! It's a reaction you can't help about. Some people like me have been funsters for a decade or even more, and have had the same debate for ages.
Very normal indeed that you give it a go, as it sounds like something new to you.
There are people caring and people who don't care; Let's make a difference between those who do it on the road, and... perfectly aware of it , and those who just forgot to shut the tap.... and those who do it on purpose .... on the grass and if allowed like JJ and I.

Funsters have different views on all sorts of subjects and that's what makes it FUN even if going a tad hot now and then! You are not the first and certainly won't be the last one .... Just let it go ... and smile!...

Amicalement
Frankie:)

Back on topic for a minute, we were on a site few weeks ago and drove to the appointed service area including a grey water ”drain”, actually the edge of the site and a gravel patch near a copse, to find our waste tap already open.
Given the day before I was showing a fellow how absolutely cr*p the tap was and that I had plans to replace it and I am 100% convinced I had closed it after showing him the pathetic dribble, it came a a surprise.
When returning to my pitch the same guy remarked I was quick considering the “dribble”, I explained and we laughed and blamed advancing years.
Later the same afternoon he appeared round the side of his van with collapsible bucket and a frown, he had also found his tap open, tank empty and a very large damp patch under his van.
We both wondered if little people had been mischievous as we had both also run short of freshwater significantly earlier than expected!

I’m afraid I’m not, and that’s exactly what I do. Sometimes she makes such a good job of it that I can just pick the plate up and put it straight back in the cupboard.

OK, that last bit was a joke. I put it in a drawer.

Love how it's my fault pushing it. Haha.
You asked for opinions!!!!!!! I didn't say you were pushing just maybe. Neither did I say it was your fault . But I do think its unlikely the mh owner fully opened the grey waste just as they left the site there would be no point so more likely a mistake.

Don’t panic , always conflicting opinions on such a large forum and emotive subjects such as grey water , black waste, a frames , cyclists , auto trail , Hymer etc will always raise a hackle or three .
Doubt if aimed at you , more the subject ?

OK, slob if deliberate then!!
I do it deliberately. I never close the waste outlet after draining the tank - it gets closed prior to next use. That way I avoid a stinky waste tank. Grease of any sort is never allowed down the sink. If I'd ever thought that a wet slick of anything on the road surface was a hazard to motorcycling then I'd have given it up in my teens.

Yeah, I always look where I'm going when on the bike... Works for me ?

Welcome to the fun Dave. Great first post.. :D
Carry on Sir, we all like a good moan now and again. I had a moan at a fellow funster earlier this weekend too. Get it off your chest lad, you'll feel better :D It's also good seeing them take the bait and watching the steam rise :D
