Got her out again.

Doing the same striping a caravan out anything I have left will get put on ebay or in the classifieds on here at somepoint
The one I used was all green mold on the outside parked under a tree but the inside was good as new, no damp or anything, seemed a shame to take it to bits.
Two nurses had bought it to go to France, only did the one journey then left it parked up for a few years.
Everything you would need to use it was still in there, stuff in the drawers ,the lot.

Actually bought the caravan first with the idea of doing a van then found a ambulance to put it in.

We have everything we want in this van, double length ways bed, compressor fridge full shower and toilet full oven and grill ,three rings, solar, hot and cold running water, 34 to the gallon regular as clockwork, as long as it keeps going, wouldn't swap it for anything. (y) (y) (y) (y)
Plus windows all round, two vents in the roof, insulation already in, diesel heater, split charging ,already in, full lighting in the back ,roof fan already in, lockers already in.
Some people have an aversion to riding in an ambulance, but pick the right one and you are almost ready to go , mattress in the back and you are sorted.
This one was £2500, plus the caravan£200, about the only things we spent on was a compressor fridge £500, and solar panel £150, it's still on the tyres it came with, they were only a year old.
So with all the other bits, carpet, curtains, gasit system which I took out of our old motorhome, less than 4 grand, but the thing is we just love it , if we had spent a hundred grand on one we couldn't like it any better, probably less as we would be constantly worrieing about damaging it.

In what way mate, we have the 2.5 in this , just before they went mad with electrics, it's done 260,000 miles but could be its third engine for all I know, the ambulance service weren't worried about sticking another in.
The gearbox whines a bit, but not got any worse since iv had it.
Might be tempting fate, but it seems to run like new.
Mine was 2.2 duff engine at 80k couldn't find another one!

However the body was much better made than my 2015 transit!

Our caravan went on to become an office for a keyworker during covid!

Where I worked before I retired I used to drive traffics with the smaller engine and they all gave up at about 75/80 thousand, but wow was they nice to drive, you could be doing 90 mph before you knew it until you looked down at the Speedo.
They sort of eat themselves to bits, but surely they are better now.
One I had was just going along perfect ,no sign of anything wrong, and it just stopped dead, no noise no nothing, but it was the best part of 2 grand to put it right, scared me to death on the motorway after that, waiting for it to do it again and must admit although this one is a totally different engine it's still at the back of my mind.
