Our first one back in 2010 just along the lane from Jim. Never had one before had a week at Sutton On Sea , Sandilands. Only beakers for wine, forgot the wine glasses. No bread knife etc. One month later we took it to Perpignan, and had superb time, no idea what we were doing. Never looked back, love the lifestyle only wish we had done it sooner
P.S van still on road , if anyone on here has it hope they are enjoying it as much as we did

Our first race van was a 407D Merc, referred to as the brick, on the original sound deadened engine cover I added underlay a layer of carpet & 2 blankets, just to stop your ears bleeding :p we traveled thousands of miles in that old girl. we had storage, Gas oven 4 rings, fridge, sink/drainer, Porta Potti, slept 3 easy, No shower, F1 or F2 in the back

On the way to Fujairah.jpg

Originally an Omani Police Bus. Obtained from a scrap yard as a rolling chassis needing engine, gearbox, seats, lights, etc - all subsequently scavanged from scrap yards. This photo was taken on our 5-week drive to UK, via UAE, Qatar, Saudi, Jordan, Syria, Greece, Italy and France with our two children aged 1 and 5, and a budgie in a cage. Stopping for a break under a tree in Oman. Temperature was 40°C+ in the shade, and no A/C!

We passed the budgie to friends in Abu Dhabi before we left.

After we got to UK we kept the van for another 10 years, fitting a larger engine and a second hand raising roof to accomodate us and three children.

Our first one in late 2017. Loved that thing. Bought in Nov and sold for £5k profit in the spring after 5k Miles when we realised the payload wasn’t too good for the family of 5 and 5 bikes. Oops. Always wanted a Kon Tiki growing up so that box ticked.

First one I’ve seen with TWO sat dishes!! That’ll get the Germans talking????
Very nice?

Your first ever Motor Home.????

This is our second one we had... back in 1968... went all over the UK in it, but never got to take it abroad..

First ever one was a Ford Transit with solid flip roof.... none of your canvas stuff... and both kids used to sleep in the roof on a two sort of tubed canvas bed.. I blew the engine up on that one .. Hence buying the Bedford..

Not a very good photo... and taken some where in Cornwall..

Our first.
Bought from Car Auction in Japan for £3,800 in 2008 with 18,000 miles on clock. With import and complete refurbishment, £12,250. Kept for three years, it was certainly a 'head turner'.

And I thought he was posh with two satellite dishes! :giggle:

After quite a few years as tuggers we finally saw the light and went mad with a brand new Swift Bollero.
Despite a good collection of faults (it had to go back to the factory once) it didn't leak, which was some consolation. We traded it in after 3 years.
Had a special reg no (still have it) of XH55B-- and here she is with Avro Vulcan XH558 at RAF Lynham.
