Gordon Bennett it's done it again. This time the hob hot plate tripped it. The microwave and hot plate appear to be on the same circuit. Marquis told me that the microwave is no longer under warranty but it is clearly not simply the microwave that causes the problem as a result of the hot plate trip. The RCD will not immediately reset. I managed to reset it the last time it tripped but it would not reset immediately. If it was an appliance issue I would expect the the RCD to reset straight away provided the relevant appliances are switched off.
I am inclined to think it is a motorhome wiring fault causing this intermittent trip. But I'm no expert. Marquis said they could do a £120 diagnostic but I don't trust them.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Since 2005
As the RCD won't immediately reset it could be a faulty RCD.
Do you have the knowledge and ability to swap for a different one temporarily.
If the same circuit trips it proves the RCD is ok.
If the swapped circuit trips it's an RCD fault.

It’s certainly been worse than normal weather we’ve been having lately, tomorrow is meant to be nicer.

enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
We have a surge protector, it doesn't reset immediately, if we leave it long enough then it resets itself but I always reset it manually anyway.... Could yours be the same issue ?

Which reminds me that I need to move the surge protector to an easily accessible location .....

Had a word with sparks and sensors and he explained they don't deal with 240v systems. But he suspected that it is a faulty RCD or wiring fault in the motorhome. Not the microwave or the hotplate because you wouldn't expect them both to go down at the same time especially as neither are old and have had much use.
