I was wanting to buy a decent pump which can cope with motorhome tyre pressures.
Does anybody have any recommendations? I have a Ryobi drill and two batteries and was wondering about their pump which would save me buying batteries, does anybody have one and are they any good?

Thanks👍 Does that plug in to the cigarette lighter or is it battery if so how do you cope with having a lead long enough?

Also have the RAC. It uses crocodile clips and has a long lead and airline.

No it attaches to the 'battery' which, in practice means the jump start points under the bonnet in Ducato and similar based motorhomes. The connecting lead is long enough to place the pump on the ground but to pump the rear tyres the coiled air line (supplied) gets you there easily. The only slight issue is that the on/off switch is on the compressor, which is not easily reached when inflating the rear tyres. I usually ask my able assistant to operate the switch.

I think the current draw of this pump might well exceed what a cigarette lighter connection can supply. Our rear tyres require 5.5 bar.

Most compressors come with cig lighter plug, plus an adaptor to enable connection to terminals under the van bonnet.

I would advise not to use it directly to cig lighter element, as there's a chance of the power surge blowing a fuse.

I use the +ve and - ve terminals under the bonnet (as per connecting jump leads/battery charger etc).

I use the RAC pump, works very well, but I carry this one in the Moho for topping up and bicycle tyres.

I wanted a T Max heavy duty tyre inflator but most dealers were out of stock, or wanted silly money for one.
I ended up buying a Vevor HD Metal Body Compressor, as its the same as The T max but Red in colour. Its very powerful, used for inflating 4x4's and trucks etc. It got my Michelin Camper Tyres up to 79 PSI very quickly.
It connects with HD battery Clips straight onto the battery,(can draw 30amps) I hook it up to the leisure batteries as its easier than faffing arround under the bonnet. The power lead is substantial, and the air hose is long enough to reach the rear wheels.
The Air Gauge is pretty accurate on mine(y)

My only negs are its quite heavy to carry in the van, & the on/off switch is on the compressor body, so you have to go back to switch off. Thats OK though, as I deliberately slightly over inflate, let the tyre pressure settle down to get an accurate reading, then use the deflator valve to get it where I want it at 79 on the rears, and 70 on the front.
I have a feeling this one is going to see me out, unlike the previous 3 Ring ones I wasted money on.
I got it for arround £80 I put a link below, showing a higher price, but have a good search and you could get lucky.(y);)

I’ve got a TMax which I don’t use, if anyone wants to make me a good offer! 😜

Just got the Worx tyre pump delivered and it certainly copes with the motorhome tyres.

Like the Ryobi, takes the reusable battery. Get the Ryobi one, I think it’s the dogs dangly bits, but already had a number of the Worx appliances, hence went for that one.

Won’t be going back to one that needs crocodile clips or cigarette lighter outlets, as a portable one does mine, my car, wheelbarrow, neighbours etc. Also like the torch facility and the safety flashing red light too.

I have a Ring one for home, which is fine (mains) - but since I got a Makita one (uses batteries I already have), no longer touch the Ring as the Makita takes it to a pressure you programme and is completely portable. The Makita lives in the MH - there's prob a Ryobi equivalent.

Have to say Makita power tools are used in the trade a lot and my neighbour has a Makita Pump which I borrow and it’s very good running on batteries, they’re not cheap but you get what you pay for I guess.

Sounds really good. My Ryobi drill batteries aren’t strong enough for the pump so would involve buying a battery as well which will come out quite pricey, but probably worth it although I will have a look at Worx.

£90 at screwfix, but sometimes available cheaper. Plus a battery/charger if you don't already have them.

Thanks might wait for the Amazon sale although I got a Screwfix mailing today with power tool offers, no pump unfortunately!

I use a von haus battery one for topping up. Will easily do my rears at 80psi. For inflating a total flat I have a double cylinder one which connects to the vehicle battery with clips and has a long hose, though I hope never to need to use it.

That seems really reasonable with a battery included as well, I will have a look, thanks.

I have an Einhell which is just like the Ryobi. It uses the system batteries. It has both high pressure low volume (tyres) and low pressure high volume (inflatables including awning) outputs. It's brilliant. The battery is powerful enough to do all four tyres. No trailing wires. Only downside is that it is bigger than a dedicated tyre pump that runs off the vehicle battery. But on the up side it does the awning and any inflatable "toys" you might have. If you already have a power tool system it's great.
