Does anyone know of a good golf course that has camping facilities for a motorhome. Or a campsite that has links to a good golf course. We live in North Wales on the border near to Chester happy to travel about an hour approx?

Look up Lancaster golf club Ashton hall, there is Ashton hall caravan/motorhome campsite next door near to Ashton hall garden centre garden centre.
Can't say I've ever come across a golf club with a campsite attached. There must be lots with camping nearby though ?

Hurlston Hall, Scarisbrick, just outside Ormskirk and 15 minutes from Southport. Don’t golf myself, but they do hold professional tournaments. They have statics and touring.

You could try asking CazPaul where he went!

Too far from you, but we stayed at a CL just outside Sandwich in Kent this year that was essentially a golf course first.

A bit of a schlep for you, but Carnoustie, and Royal St Georges both have a campsite within walking distance.

I'd have thought that as many links courses are by the sea, and many campsites are also by the sea, you would have a large selection in the UK, it would just take a bit of googling to match the two maps.

It sounds like a good idea for a book:
A circumnavigation of the UK by motorhome listing every campsite/golf course combination.
(As both golf and campsites have been available for nearly a century, I'd be amazed if that has not been thought of before)

Could you use the ukcampsites search engine ? Maybe put ‘golf’ in as a search and see what comes up ?

Backworth Hall near Whitley Bay has a motorhome aire with services right beside their golf course. It's a 9 hole course set in lovely grounds. Only £10 a night to stay and apparently the food in the club house is nice. We stayed and played last month. Booked the course through Golf Now. We liked it.

If you fancy a tour of Scotland there are quite a few -
  1. Camping and Caravan Club site at Rosemarkie on the Black Isle in Scotland (a long drive I know) is very close to the Fortrose Golf course. It's a fabulous links course.
  2. Silver Sands Caravan site near Arisaig is on its own fabulous white beach with Traigh Golf course across the road. Most summers we get a country membership there and stay for up to three weeks playing the wonderful course.
  3. -Eyemouth (where we are members) has a place for motorhomes where you can stay overnight for free if you eat in the club house restaurant.
  4. Balbirnie (Fife) CCC site is on the same grounds as a good golf course.

We would be interested to know of similar in Wales.
Happy golfing!

To add to that Mags,

  2. Fortrose Bay site - the other side of the golf course from Rosemarkie

South East corner of Cheshire, probably less than an hour from you. Onneley Cricket Club has a CL and across the road is Onneley Golf Club. Decent pub across the road too, The Wheatsheaf.

within an hour or so of Chester you say

I agree with Plassey, nice little course if a bit "damp"
Cony golf course has a few wild spots near it if you dont mind wild(beside Conwy castle, or on conwy beacons 100 yds from the club) but also a few sites, bron y wendon, etc within 10 mins drive

Then there is Rhyl Golf club that has motorhome parking a little way along the road overnight gated, very basic but safe ffrith beach caravan park

Fynn Valley Golf Club in Suffolk has a CL as well
"The CL is set adjacent to the golf course and open fields, with picturesque views over the Fynn Valley and direct access to an extensive network of footpaths.
Five pitches with hard standing and electric hook up (included). Black and grey water disposal, two fresh water taps, motorhome service point (MSP).
£15 per pitch per night for a caravan or motorhome and two adults. Children up to 17 free of charge. Additional guests £5pp extra per night. Dogs are welcome, £3 per dog per night, must be kept on a lead at all times please".

Too far I know, but you could visit Adnams as well!!

Also, the CAMC site of Incleboro Fields (Norfolk West Runton) is accessed by driving through The Links Country Park Hotel & Golf Club
Cheers

Somers Wood campsite @ Meridan, site is on the 36 hole complex of Stonebridge GC.
Betws -y-coed (Morris leisure) is next to the 9 hole course there, each hole has 2 tee boxes.
Hurlston Hall good course.

Thank you to all who responded to the OP’s request, l picked up all the recommendations and will visit a few.
Thinking of that myself.
There was a North Wales site advertising that they where welcoming MH's on their website - can't remember which but it will come to me.
Bentham Golf is close to Riverside Caravan Park on the edge of the lakes.
Don’t want to jump on the thread but would there be any interest in a Funster Golf Weekend?
I'm up for it.

Just adding to the Scottish List-
  • Dornoch Caravan Park is about 10 minutes walk from Royal Dornoch Golf Club, two courses regularly used as a qualifying course for The Open when it's being held in Scotland
  • Wick Golf Club, we've seen motorhomes \ campervans parked in the car park outside on the dead end road but it's also used for the beach. Don't know if allowed \ tolerated \ or what. The Club does advertise as being the oldest on the NC500 so .....
