Glow plugs?

I hope your injectors are easier to remove than Fiat ones. If not it could be a very costly experiment.

I would have thought there would have been some indication of the problem when scanned. Does your garage have VCDS (Vagcom) one of the best VW diagnostics available?
If you've not visited them already you may get some help on either of the following forums VW T6 Forum and VW T4 Forum which also includes T5s.

I joined the vw forum , then usual culprits came up all of which have been followed up. The tank has been dropped and checked and yes the injectors are going to be a pain to get out. Fingers crossed it gets sorted .

Got van back, leaking injectors.
So injectors/seals new harness oil n filter and fuel filter £2020. Rode home and all seems fine 🕺🏻

Ouch that hurts!

Is this progress, I can change all of my injectors/filers etc. on my 1989 T25 VW 'Westy' in about 3 hours.
I will try and keep the injectors, in my Ducato, in good working order!

Injectors and harness know problem with late 2.5 engines. My mates turbo and egr went on his last month his has 170000 miles mine has 89000.

If your garage isn't familiar with this engine, it's feasible they weakened the harness removing it to take the injectors out. The PVC insulation hardens and cracks, leaving the copper to fatigue. Not that difficult to renew, and they should possibly have checked or changed it anyway as they were in there.
The symptom is irregular misfires on one or more cylinders, especially when a lot of squirt is needed like a hill start. Dual mass flywheel goes into jack-hammer mode due to miss-fire.
I changed my harness at c130K, still good when I sold it 8 years on at 240k, with injectors and head untouched since new.

Yes it was the harness they where eating for as you say replaced as a matter of course whilst sorting injectors 👍🏻

Quick update, after struggling to start but nowhere near as bad as before it seems to be running fine. Had a run to Sheffield over the weekend and all seems fine it will of done the battery good.
