GLOVES COMPULSORY IN FRANCE FOR RIDERS AND PASSENGERS

That's interesting awg we've just competed a quick tour de France in the van and you can count the number of scooter riders we've seen wearing gloves on one hand. I'm not talking about the serious riders here, but folk popping out and about. We've worn ours religiously since we were stopped and it would feel very odd now to go without them! The French rule about the gloves would seem to fall into the same category as not using a mobile phone whilst driving, hardly anyone bothers to adhere to it!!!!!

Decent clothing, strong shoes/boots, and a helmet and gloves are the minimum. With decent gear you can stay cool and be reasonably well protected.
You could wear a rubber gimp suit but at 140mph you should stay cool.

You'd have to be some special kind of cretin to ever even consider riding without gloves.
And another cretin here...

And the bit about gloves having to be CE marked is not quite true..
They have made a better job of the legislation than that

It says ( in so many words ) the gloves must be suitable for the purpose they are being used for

The CE thing MIGHT come in sometime in the future but the FIM, BMF and a couple of other lobby type organisations got it stopped in the last round of legislations
