hi all, completely new to this , motorhomes ,forums and typing with one finger:rolleyes:
i need to ask your expert advice. we bought a globecar campscout inbetween lockdowns and like everybody else have not been able to use it.
So as its a basic van with no tv aerial i decided to add one.Wired the amp direct to 12v system in van +ve brown/-ve black-didnt work!!! Consequently ive found that the leisure battery terminals are wired opposite to what i consider normal. brown -ve terminal/ black +ve terminal.does anyone know if this is correct for a european van or has somebody fitted a new battery the wrong way around

Thanks Andy. Not being an electrical expert I don't understand overcurrent protection,
A PTC overcurrent protection resistor (thermistor) allows the normal 3A to pass without restriction. However if the current increases for some reason, the resistor starts to get hot, its resistance increases, so it gets even hotter, and increases even more. I restricts the current enough to avoid any overheating of the wiring. If you turn off the power and fix the fault, the resistor will be back to its normal temperature so no need to do anything to fix that. Better than a fuse in difficult to access areas.

It's called a PTC, Positive Temperature Coefficient, because its resistance increases (ie positive) when the temperature increases. In contrast to an NTC thermistor, where the resistance decreases as the temperature increases (usually used for temperature measuring circuits)

Glad you're all sorted t&j mitch. I fitted a Sureflow pump to our Campscout, firstly to improve the shower pressure and secondly because I don't rate the submersible pumps they fit.
I actually used the original draw off hose with the submersible pump still attached to feed the Shureflow, so if necessary I could still use the submersible, it also provides a non return valve.
I also toyed with the idea of changing to a pressurised system but decided against it in the end, having had a pipe blow off in a previous van.

I got rid of the submersible and fitted all 1/2" hose on the suction side which meant changing the tank fitting. Once the Shurflo pump is primed it keeps it's pressure as there is a built in non return valve. It's a bit noisier than the submersible but we had this system in our Navion and it never failed. Pressure is a bit high on the toilet and it wets the bowl perimeter but someone said he had reduced the flow with a bead of silicone and I'll try this before I fit a pressure reducer which is probably only a piece of plastic with a reduced bore that someone will want £10 for!

Yes, our Shureflow is quite a bit noisier than the submersible but that is a good thing in my book. I don't want the pump running without me knowing about it. Been there, done that😕
