Given the finger for not waving !

I,m usually pretty good at acknowledging other motorhomers, but last Thursday on the A31 I was distracted so neglected, this caused the oncoming gentleman(other words are available) to give me the finger. I just wonder how he felt this added anything to the comaderie of the motorhoming community.
I always try to wave. Seems harmless and friendly to me. I usually speak to others when we stop too.

If in a car do you wave to other care owners?
Nah to many miserable gits driving cars.
Although mind when the top is down on the sports car ……. Lol 😂😂

Ha ha yep they do that. Great many Germans up here in the north east off the ferry and that’s their greeting.
Can’t get away with it so just smile and wave
Smile. The bloody bike helmet is on …… 😂😂😂

I wave as it annoys my wife.
She asks if I wave at cars when I’m in my car?
I find it funny when I get waved back. She finds it funny when they ignore me.
As for the OP, maybe they’ve only got one finger on their hand? A bit like Lancastrians? 🤣🤣🎣🎣with eight on the other hand.

Funny this. May daily drive is a 110 Defender. 95% of Defender drivers wave/flash etc. Only exception are farmers.
Now, been motorhoming for a few months now, and I find that most people don't bother. I try, but it's a bit sad when you're totally ignored. I don't remember it being like this when I last motorhomed 16 years ago.

Cheers.

World is full of sad miserable gits though. Just remember we aren’t in that group 👍👍

Nobody waves at me in my stealth camper. And that's how I like it. ;) :roflmto:

Are you sure he was actually giving you the finger as we've noticed abroad especially that many just raise a single digit from the steering wheel when 'waving' ...

There was a time, not so many years ago, when I used to wave at any other vehicle on our roads, including horse and carts! :giggle:

I found myself waving to MHs couple of weeks ago whilst i was on my motorbike..................felt a right (k)nob(b)
In Ireland now i would say 90% wave,,,,,,even the rentals.

There are parts of the A31 where you need to concentrate on the road not on looking at the occupants of other vehicles. If he made time to wave, check that you had not returned his wave and then make another gesture then his eyes were off the road for far too long. Waving should come second to road safety.

We wave, try to vary it with the Mexican wave sometimes.

I even wave to people with the same car and colour as ours!

We recently had someone wave at us with a big foam yellow hand. It was hilarious.

Leg out is a thank you to other drivers which may have pulled over to let you pass. Greetings is the left hand out, usually very close to theirs, coming the other way.😉

Nope no mistaking the gesture a stiffly extended digit, just thought it rude and unnecessary

Get the reg number and send him the gift of an anger management course. What ever is going on in his head isn’t good and you just have to feel sorry for him
