as soon as you say you don't like it the Beni lovers get all het up.. it's like saying you don't like a Cadac.

seriously.. the way I look at it.. the more that go to it, the fewer tourists there are in the real Spain..

so yes.. I love it for that reason..

why do people get so protective about Beni.. ?

It grows on you, it's just so easy to relax there. It's full of life. It makes you feel good.

I'm just the same when offered a remote cold Scottish island. I've never experienced one yet am prepared to pass judgement on it. We were on Sky once, lovely for a few days but I could not take that isolation for weeks.

we love Spain, and the Spanish.. but steer well clear of the Brit hot spots and ex pat enclaves .. no thanks

I have a friend who has a restaurant / bar in Fuengirola.. keeps asking us to visit but not been yet

Fuengirola is a nice place, and yes it has its share of ex pat Brits but it has a large Spanish community too. The best time to go is for the October Festival, really great and really Spanish. Weather still good too.

Have you seen how many fat, lazy drunken tourists spill off the cruise ships in any Caribbean Island? I’d vote for Beni - see the same fat, lazy tourists, interspersed with people like us: fit, healthy walkers/cyclists who also love a laugh ... for a fraction of the cost - and that’s not being protectionist - just stating a fact!
