"Gilets Jaunes" The French Yellow Vest Protests

Has anyone been through France recently for a update on the yellow vest events. Have heard some peaple put their yellow vests on dash board when travelling through France. Good or bad.

We travelled through France from 29 Dec and now in Spain, using non toll roads as much as possible.
We had a gilet jaune on the dash just in case but only saw three lots of protesters in the whole trip and they were more interested in drinking coffee and chatting amongst themselves than causing any disruption.
