Members may have read in the media about Germany recently instigating checks at the Polish, and I think Czech borders, resulting in long delays.

We were recently crossing from France into Germany and were wondering if Germany was conducting similar checks there.

We were pleased to find out that there were none.

My conclusion is that Germany is only currently concerned with migration from the East.

Of course, when the people smugglers change their tactics, this may change.

We came through Kolbaskowo on the A6 autobahn last Wednesday and there were police checks,
We weren’t stopped it was late in pouring rain but they were stopping some people,

Some have found that there are checks between France and Germany, but very largely for lorries

We were stopped going across the border from Denmark into Germany near Flensburg last week. We were waved on as soon as I said Hi. Poor young chap was all on his own on a small road , we’d taken a detour as recommended by “Jayne” to avoid traffic.

We had a detour off the carriageway through the border check there heading north at the beginning of June. A few police but not actually doing anything. Just drove round their hut and back on to the carriageway.

we went through a few German Check points in March as we went in and out of France-Germany-France-Austria-Germany.

Though we were never stopped.

No Police in Seltz on the Free car ferry though.

There were German Police checking People on the way into Germany when we headed into CZ in June, nut not when we left.

We passed through from Netherlands to Germany last week and were detoured off the autobahn through customs. We were waved through but they were stopping cars and trucks.

Came through Strasbourg into Germany about three weeks ago and very long queues crossing the Rhine due to border checks.
We were waved through.

Check points seem to be on most major routes, even encountered one exiting Luxembourg into Germany as we were heading to Trier. We were not stopped but large queue as 3 lanes of Motorhome driven down to one slow lane to drive past the heavily armed Police. On heading back into Luxembourg the next day in the car to attend a concert it suddenly dawned on us to ensure we had our passports, something we never normally think about. We used the A road in the car and encountered no check points, so seems to be major motorway networks being policed.

What is the point of checks only on major routes? - the immigrants and people smugglers will use minor roads. Or is it just a political gesture to show the most people that the government is taking immigration seriously?

I would be very annoyed to queue for a long time and then to be waived through. Why do the Immigration police not position themselves at the start of the queue, identify the ones they want to search, filter them into one lane, and allow those who are allowed to pass freely to proceed in the other lane)s)?

We travelled across the Dutch / German border 3 weeks ago near Venlo on the autobahn, no signs of any checks.
We should be crossing back into Belgium from Aachen tomorrow I'll look across the motorway to see if there are any delays. (y)

We crossed the German-Poland border on Sunday and there was a Polish check-point set up to the side of the M/way, but only one truck there. All other traffic went straight through on the main carriageway, with just a 40kph speed limit for a few hundred metres.
