Gearbox: what oil and how much ? (15 Viewers)

Hi guys, I have a 2002 Fiat Ducato 2.8 JTD Motorhome, I want to change the gearbox oil, I know how to do it but would like advice on what oil to use and how much.

2.7 litres . I'd drain & check though .
SAE 75W-80 Think i might have used 75W-90

That’s great, thanks, trouble is I’ve had a bit of a leak from the drain-plug so draining the oil is not going to be a good indicator of how much there should be in it.

As they have the "add on 5th gear" too much oil is better than not enough so I'd make sure you put in 2,7 litres.

Just a follow on about the above, to fill the gearbox on a 2002 2.8 JTD Ducato do you take the reverse switch off and fill it that way as the later models have a breather pipe with a black cap on the end and I can not see a breather pipe anywhere.

That is one way to do it

The filler bung doubles as a full level...put oil in until it comes out of the same hole.
The bung will be on the front or rear side.
