There's a lot of conflicting advice about so I am hoping that the learned assembly can help.
We have a 2015 Elddis Majestic 125 on a 2.2 litre Peugeot. It has about 36K on the clock so I am thinking about changing the gearbox oil.
Is the filler via the breather?
Any tips for filling?
Lidl are currently selling a 12v oil pump would this be a good way to do it?
Any other advice welcome

In general, the filler/ level bung is on the side and drain bung on the bottom.
When oil comes out of the fill hole it is the correct level.
Problem with oil pumps.....how do you know the pipe is at the lowest point in the box and have you got all the oil out.

There is a drain plug on the gearbox but no fill plug. The quantity(on my gearbox) is 2.5 litres.

You have to fill via the top of the gearbox so my gearbox man said...sorry he didn't show me where.

Ours is the same Peugeot 2.2 diesel manual transmission.

After a run to warm the oil up, I drained off the original gearbox oil from our 2013 Peugeot Boxer 2.2, leaving it to drip for half an hour to get as much of the old stuff out and was a little surprised that this only amounted to 2.5 litres of the 2.7 litres it seemingly should have been filled with even allowing for the fact that you will not get every last drop of the old oil out.

It would appear that it is now advised to fill these gearboxes with 2.9 litres of oil, so in went 2.9 litres of Castrol Syntrans Multivehicle 75W-90 fully synthetic gear oil and the gear change is now as smoooooth as silk even when cold.
You fill by pulling off the gearbox breather. I filled using a long length of PVC tubing on the end of a funnel.

I was think of using the pump to put oil in rather than suck out as the access is difficult.

That little cap in two on Tour’s photo just pulls off. I used some rubber tubing about 8mm ED and a little funnel to fill it.
The hardest part is locating that breather cap which is down behind the air filter on top of the gearbox. I stripped out the air filter but knowing where it is now I could do it by feel.
Follow post #4 advice and you won’t go wrong, just have a new washer or anneal it if it’s a copper one as your not likely to do it again.
Ours is the 2014 2.3 Ducato but they do appear very similar. I used 2.9 litres of Petronas Tutela Matryx fully synthetic, 2.7 came out.

Just a word of warning for those that are looking to change their gearbox oil, make sure that the gear oil you use is GL-4 and Not GL-5, as the GL-5 can be disastrous for the synchromesh rings in a gearbox, therefore it is not recommended to use GL-5 in a gearbox unless the manufacturer allows this.
