GB / UK sticker

I didn't bother with any stickers at all - GB or UK. Nobody mentioned it during my entire 3 week trip around France and Spain.

We still have GBM (Isle of Man) on our vehicles, perfectly legal, and not a problem in Europe. We are part of the British Isles, not the UK.

A lack of respect for the law :D

Yesterday, I paid for a coffee at a Starbucks drive through using Apple Pay on my phone. In doing so I was breaking the law, but no one was bothered.

Your on private property road law does not apply?

Thats not true, if the public has access then the law applies. You break it whenever you use your phone to pay. I think they are going to publish an exemption. Meanwhile the law is clear, that even when stationary, say at a toll booth, you should not touch your phone, but, who is going to bother you over such a silly technicality like that, or for accidentially having a sticker on upside down :D

I'm on a lovely aire at Serrieres en Chautagne slowly cooking and turning into 'Le Roast Bouef'. Of the 11 other MHs here not one has the AM stickers on and some are definitely over 3500kg. Anyone that gets clever with us about our UK sticker will be asked why they aren't displaying an AM one, especially the overweight French!

UK/GB whatever...so many sticking their. noses in....our E on our plate quite often confuses....England, Ecuador nobody thinks it's España cus that's S surely....even more confusing as they hear me and jumartoo speaking broken English between ourselves...
Used to love winding Rally Stewards up as we turned up at Holiday meets in a vehicle bearing the E numberplate...I let them gabble on with ever increasing volume, trying to explain to me that we are not allowed to enter...never got turned away...but the confusion continued when they noticed, someone had put our habitation door on the wrong side...🥴😀😀👍🇪🇦

I can throw our mix into the pot.

I have some GB stickers which I am going to attach, to show my nationality, to our Polish-registered 'vintage' RHD with habitation door on right side.

GB stickers are now defunct and would have no effect on vehicle with PL on plate

You were actually OK, contactless payment is one of the exceptions in law.

I have a GB and a UK one on the back. On my front plate I have put a small UK and union jack sticker - mainly because i feel sorry for the number of foreigners who look confused when looking at the front numberplate.

It seems the rules are not straightforward! In Spain fir instance you cannot display at GB sticker (it must be covered/removed) see:

Do I need to put a UK sticker on my vehicle?

From 28 September 2021, you must identify that your vehicle is from the UK when driving abroad.

If your number plate includes the UK identifier with the Union flag (also known as the Union Jack), you do not need a UK sticker to drive in France.

However, you will need to display a UK sticker clearly on the rear of your vehicle if your number plate has any of the following:

  • a GB identifier with the Union flag (also known as the Union Jack)
  • a Euro symbol
  • a national flag of England, Scotland or Wales
  • numbers and letters only - no flag or identifier
If you are driving in Spain, you must display a UK sticker no matter what is on your number plate.

If you have a GB sticker, you must cover or remove it.

You can find out more information from gov.uk.

So Spain will not allow me to display my initials '- GB'.

Racial prejudice!
