I've just had an arsey German pass my van complaining that my front number plate has EU stars and GB on it. Said it should be UK.

I pointed out that we were legal because we had UK sticker at the back.

What a pratt!

We have ENG and 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 on ours, it's funny we had Germans loudly debating that outside our van in Italy.

As far as front number plates go I don’t think they need to show anything except your number.

You don't need anything on the back number plate either, but you'd need a GB UK sticker.

I travel with my magnetic UK sign upside down, that gets them guessing too '\. Till Siân tuts and puts it up the right way, though I flip it back as soon as she's not looking. '\ Little things '\

Should have retorted..... Yours is missing a swastika.

When we were down in Bulgaria and Romania we had people asking us if we were Ukrainian.
Don‘t know what they made of our Motorhomefun stickers and the wife’s Smokey Dragon sticker!

I had a similar thing happen while at a French aire a couple of weeks ago. I'd used some of those UK stickers that cover up the GB markings at the ends of the front and rear number plates. I noticed a group of French campers looking back and forth at our van and discussing something quite intently. Then one of the group came over and asked me if we were from Ukraine. She seemed a little disappointed when I confessed to being Anglais 🙃

If you had replied yes their next question would be why you weren’t helping in the war effort 😊

I've been asked if I'm from Ukraine as well. I've toyed with getting some blue & yellow electrical tape to jazz up the numberplate just to confuse people.

What the xxxx has it got to do with him 😡

In Denia earlier this year we had a German pratt moaning on to us that he didn’t like Prince Charles 😟

My response was “ F Off” and moan to someone else 😂

We've had this a few times on our last 2 foreign jaunts, the last time was the other day when a French chap enquired where we were from then quizzed me on the difference between UK and GB, fortunately I was able to explain it but he was still a bit confused as he'd seen GBR ones too! 😄

How did you explain the reason to change to UK having been GB for donkeys years and no change in the borders? I think I would have struggled to come up with a logical reason!

I told him that GB only included England, Scotland and Wales but that UK also included Northern Ireland and due to us leaving the EU 'we' wanted to make NI feel more included, even though their 'status' hadn't changed.

I didn't bother to explain the IDs for each country as I don't think he'd have survived! 😆

I think the old codger has a briefer and instantly believable explanation!

True but I wasn't going to mention that prats name nor the other B as although we had B happen it wasn't actually required as we could've done it without it occurring anyway.

When we used the tunnel a few months ago, I was surprised at the amount of cars/Motorhomes etc. without any country identification at all.

I think it’s a sign of the times, there are many of us and I don’t want to sound prejudiced, usually of the older generation, who try and follow the rules ( no matter if we think they are stupid ) as opposed to many nowadays who just believe it doesn’t apply to them or they can’t be bothered.

I should say that when Germans are speaking English they can sound a little more abrasive than they are actually meaning to be.

Asking you the question about whether it should be a UK sticker on the front could easily come across as sounding like they are telling you rather than asking. I lived in Germany for almost 3 years and visiting often, I've experienced what I thought was 'arsey' many times then subsequently found out it was in fact anything but (y)

Love Germany very clean, you shpuld see th food outlets at main railway stations, GREAT beer and steam trains, what more does one want? 🤔

Or you could have done a Manuel
