Gas, no gas, what the heck!

I have lost count of the number of failed regulators I have chucked in the scrap bin. Certain makes are really bad for being affected by oily deposits. Other, usually cheaper makes rarely fail
I had two Truma regulators fail. The second one was bought by me and was less than 6 months old when it failed. Fitted a different make and since then, no problem. Now carry a spare regulator just in case.
This is what we fitted second time.

dare to say carry a small log, e.g. police trudgen and tap as and when necessary.

can't remember if you don't turn off the supply to the regulator (e.g. bottle) it doesn't stick or vice versa. However rarely turn off ours and had no further issues.

However need to make absolutely sure no leaks or else!

Always turn ours off before filling up. Also turn bottle off when driving even though Alugas bottle has an internal anti-rupture valve, apparently.

indeed who wouldn't turn off before filling. have crash shut off plus burst hose shut off so rarely shut them off unless filling/ferry/tunnel/service.
;)

I’ve heard of many who don’t bother turning off bottle before filling up, including me, until I was told to shut off before filling.

Just to update you, we did a few sharp taps on the regulator and we have gas!! Thanks very much for the tip, we will be forever learning I reckon 😀
I find that works on the good woman too!

Risk of passing liquid propane into the lp side of the reg means you deffo turn off the cylinders.
