Hi All,

Looking at putting in a 11kg and 6kg Gasit System,

I don't really want to go drilling into skirt of MH, is there any reason external filler couldn't be attached to the Gas Locker Door?

Thanks a mill.

Gordon

I fitted the one in my frankia on the locker door .

Never had any issues with it.

I'd avoid fitting one inside the door as a lit of places wont let you fill due to these cowboys filling calor bottles with cheap adaptors bought if Ebay

The one on my hymer is on the skirt but I've to watch when I'm attaching some of the hoses stations as it does sometimes flex the skirt a fair bit

They should bring out a white cover for the detachable fillers like those.

Suppose could paint it but they are hard rubber/plastic aren't they so wouldn't take well.
I hope the arrow washed off:D:D

I fitted my system (a Gaslow plus a Calor as reserve) with the filler in the door using the right-angled connector as per Gaslow's instructions. The hose isn't stressed at any door position. If I change my system to another m/h I'll simply fit a vent over the hole in the door.

Fitted the filler on ours in the side skirt. I think it looks nicer and less obvious painted the same colour as the body,

Last question I promise... :-)

Have most people fitted these themselves. And then had them checked?

On our Hobby we did a similar route to WynnandJean in post 29.
There was a space approx.125mm above the door opening still within the gas locker and as a result our gas entry point is above the door.

Fitted my system in under and hour, including a stop for a brew.
I used Gaslow's own leak detector fluid and joint sealant as it was easy to add it to the online order.
The Gaslow regulator has a pressure gauge with Green/Red sectors which indicates if there's any leakage downstream from the cylinder.
I think conscientious folk get a professional test done with a certificate so that they can show it to their insurance company after they've blown themselves up. ;)
Frankly, IMHO there's more chance of systems developing leaks when there's the necessity to frequently change Calor gas bottles.

I've fitted mine in all our MHs since we first got it in 2009, so it started life in a Rimor, then a Chausson, Autocruise, Globecar, another Globecar and now a Carthago.

The only change I made was when I swapped the large round Gaslow filler which had always been put inside the gas locker on a bracket to a small square Gasit one so I could put it externally in the bumper of the first Globecar. It isn't difficult to do so long as you use common sense and ensure you understand how the pipework goes together which is a little bit more involved if you have a 2 bottle set-up. However IMV the actually work involved isn't much more difficult to do than attaching a non-refillable Calor bottle to a hose attached to a bulkhead regulator, it's just that you have more connections to make. If you go for an external filler you have mount it somewhere ... THAT is the most daunting and frightening bit ... drilling a great big hole in the side of your pride and joy!

I've always done a lot of careful checking when I've fitted the system to make sure the connections are all tight and no gas is leaking so never bothered with a 'professional' check (I sometimes know more about the refillable system than they do anyway!), and of course if you have a habitation check done they should do a pressure test anyway.
