I fitted mine in the door with a right-angled connector according to Gaslow's own instructions supplied with the kit.Dave would not fit the "Filler" in the door because Gaslow do not recommend it, It was fitted to the skirt.
I would have fitted mine in the skirt but the pump guns are heavy, the hose stiff and it's quite awkward to connect to a low down filler unit, plus I travel solo and have to do it and everything else one-armed, (not to mention the challenge of winding the awning in and out).Personally i would not want the 90 fitted, that looks more problematic than direct to door.
I am more than happy with it in the skirt next to the door.
Thank's for the info.
You should really be turning off the bottles when filling to avoid the pressure pushing the LPG past and damaging the regulator.with mine and I'm sure most, external filler cap on LPG door, one hose into both bottles, never need to open LPG locker door except to check level and by now I know roughly when I need to top up
I will be interested to hear how you get on trying to fill your Safefill bottles ?Well nice thread keep it going. I’ve just sold my Motorhome and that had two Gaslow bottles, easy to fill anywhere but…..
Now I have a caravan coming I’ve decided to use Safefill for ease of use, lightweight and easy filling and for the life of me I could not get a single bottle anywhere near me so…….. travelled all the way to Nottingham for two but worth the 7hrs round trip, call it a day out.
Motorhome - Refillable all the way like Gaslow.
Caravans - Safefill any day over normal bottles.
The two Safefill bottles 7.5kg cost £406 filled, bargain.
I’m looking at buying Safefill bottles for a Europe trip but am seeing conflicting reports on how easy it is to fill the bottles at petrol stations as they say you need a filler cap rather than direct to the cylinder. Have you done this? Any problems? You can simply take Safefill bottles out of the van just like regular bottles when you sell the van.
You can take them to the garage in in your car or van and re-fill them any where in Europe with the correct adapter.

I’m looking at Safefill but keep seeing reports saying garages in EU don’t let you fill bottles without a filler cap into the locker. Did you manage ok and on which countries if so?I’ve been using safefill 10kg and 6kg calor never had a problem with filling safe fill get the universal filling adapted and fill up anywhere in Europe
In two years I have filled my bottles all over the UK, France and Germany without any issues. I only have to spin the wheel pig tails of the bottles in situ before filling. I think there may be more of a problem in Spain and Portugal. One 10Kg (19 litre) bottle tends to last us around three weeks with cooking almost every night. Our two bottles will easily last us for our 5 weeks euro trips anyway. They seem to have become very expensive recently. I paid £145 each for my ones two years ago.I’m looking at Safefill but keep seeing reports saying garages in EU don’t let you fill bottles without a filler cap into the locker. So you fill them in the locker rather than taking them out to fill? I’ve heard that’s what garages tend to object to. We are planning on going to Spain so more research needed I think! In two years I have filled my bottles all over the UK, France and Germany without any issues. I have a Morrisons just up the road and they are listed on Safefill site as all ok to fill.I will be interested to hear how you get on trying to fill your Safefill bottles ?
We have many customers saying most places won’t allow filling .
You're giving yourself gas by overdoing the research. Just fit Gaslow, Gasit or Alugas refillables with an external body mounted filler connector. Piece of cake, peace of mind.So you fill them in the locker rather than taking them out to fill? I’ve heard that’s what garages tend to object to. Either is not a problem they are very light. So you fill them in the locker rather than taking them out to fill? I’ve heard that’s what garages tend to object to. We are planning on going to Spain so more research needed I think!
I have just fitted Alugas to my van, we live in Spain, but before I fitted anything I asked our local rep sol garage what they allow, and they will only permit external filling points, not bottles on the ground - now that’s only one garage, it was enough for me to decide on fitting Alugas with an external fill pointSo you fill them in the locker rather than taking them out to fill? In my experience it’s always better to have an external fixed filler , saves any problems .I have just fitted Alugas to my van, we live in Spain, but before I fitted anything I asked our local rep sol garage what they allow, and they will only permit external filling points, not bottles on the ground - now that’s only one garage, it was enough for me to decide on fitting Alugas with an external fill point
So for a six week stay in Spain in winter would the option of hiring a Spanish bottle for the duration still stand? I don’t want to spend out on refillable if I can take two x 6kg Calor and use a Spanish bottle for the main gas use?
Thanks
