Anyone know if there is a legal limit on how much gas in cylinders you can carry to France ? I have two 11kgs and want to carry a spare 6kg in boot as taking a longer trip than normal. Thanks

Tunnel 50 kg, Ferries 47kg, your 6kg should be in a sealed area with a drop vent, so you shouldn't carry it outside the gas locker.
There is no requirement on eurotunnel to restrict gas bottles to a sealed area or gas locker. Only that they should be accessible to be turned off by staff if required.
Similarly for Ferries
Max of 3 gas bottles secured and turned off.

Any cylinders should be stored/transported in an upright position. On UK cylinders that is a safety pressure release valve encorporated into the brass valve. If the cylinder gets hot it could 'blow off' which with be vapour. If they are laid down it will be liquid which is another ball game. The area where the cylinders are stored should have ventilation in the floor as vapour is heavier than air.

Nothing to do with Eurotunnel it just the correct way to keep a bottle in a vehicle that has living accommodation.
