Technically you're committing an offence! You should get it delivered! What happens when you drive your car to the gas bottle shop? I've always just put in the boot.
What offence in law is that ?Technically you're committing an offence! You should get it delivered!
I do exactly the same although I store the 907 under a bunk. They are made and intended for camping and have a double seal, in the unlikely event of the ball valve failing the screw in stopper would prevent any leak. The bottle is secured so I am happy to continue this way although of course I appreciate that usually the 907 would be carried in the boot of a car. Seems to be that any accident which caused the bottle to rupture would be so serious that we wouldn't know much about it.On the basis that gas bottles must be stored in a well ventilated area with no access to living spaces I'd guess the official answer is no. The risk of course is what happens in the event of an accident.
That said, I wouldn't be at all surprised if folk do, but it's at their own risk of course. Have we done it.................................???
We sometimes carry a Camping Gaz 907 bottle as backup - we have a gas ring that screws into it but also have an adapter so that we can plug it into the rechargeable system if we have problems getting gas. However this ALWAYS lives in the back box, never within the hab area.

have you considered a refillable systemI have two 6kg gas bottles in a compartment for them..can I carry a third bottle inside the van in uk and europe if it is secured...
Presumably you mean lying down while not in use, rather than when turned on and supplying gas?just seen this - so this maybe is for others, in every compartment be it caravan or MH that i have seen 2x6 kg bottles if you measure the compartments you will find not only can you get a 13kg bottle instead you will find you can probably get 2x13kg bottles in there. you might need to remove the cages that are only there to hold the silly little 6kg bottles still.
The reasons i put 13kg in is 2 fold, its almost the same price to buy as retailers (calor gas and downwards ) really rip you off for buying a 6kg bottle and a 13kg bottle is lighter than 2x6kg bottles and half of the weight is of course the bottles . a 6 kg bottle weight is about 7 kg empty and a 13kg bottle weight ( tare) is 12.7kg - so you get less weight and more gas for less even with one 13kg bottle. Also to burst another myth there is no law about bottles being stood up - they are perfectly safe lying down as long as you strap them down of course. ( which you would)
Hope not bottles must always be carried and stored vertical.Presumably you mean lying down while not in use, rather than when turned on and supplying gas?

As said they have to be carried upright. What happens when you drive your car to the gas bottle shop? I've always just put in the boot.
No one has arrested me yet for carrying 2 x 14kg bottles. As said they have to be carried upright.
In Spain there is a maximum amount of gas in bottles that can be carried. Can't remember the amount but I know that 2 x 12,5kg cylinders exceed the legal amount.
