Gas bbq help choosing !

Ah i see now the 1000 doesn't have the side tables!
The stand comes apart easily with push buttons, I use mine all the time, have never used the internal full cooker. Do you have an external BBQ point, very handy but watch where you fit it, on my new van it’s fitted near the hab door so in the centre of the awning which is plain daft, on my old one I had it fitted to the left side.

Yes they are fitting a bbq point not sure where.

You need to check with respect, also they were going to put my filler for the Gaslow in the gas locker door, I pinpointed exactly where I wanted it in the skirt, if you have a flame up while under the awning you could be in trouble, so you need to plan where suits you, normally near the gas locker or external to the cooker is easiest access to existing gas pipes but depends which side these are on, without instructions from you they would probably go easiest, but I am super fussy and plan and measure everything to how and where I want it ?

If you want something slightly different, I have one of these we take with us...

It says it's designed for burgers, hot dogs & breakfast but you can cook all sorts on it and there is a great group on Facebook who come up with some really nice recipes

I use it on the BBQ point after getting the relevant hoses & adapter shipped over from the USA

And for home we have the twin burner 22" version

The larger one I currently use with the 1Kg bottles but that will change when the bulk adapter hose arrives from the USA, I should then be able to just get a std bottle to connect it to

This could be worth a look. We purchased a large Char-Broil-BBQ with the TRU-Infrared earlier in the summer and have never looked back. Super build quality and no burn-ups.

We had a Cadac for years - having gone to a Weber 1200 we’d certainly never go back. It’s not a charcoal barbecue, but it’s far quicker and more manageable and in our experience cooks infinitely better than the Cadac did.

I realise this could be a little contentious but isn't a Barbecue powered by barbecue charcoal and everything else is a gas cooker used outside?;)

Not contentious ...but it matters not. I have a Big Green Egg for when I want to bbq ”properly“ but there’s no way I’d put it in the Van and the smoke wouldn’t go down so well so there are times when you need something gas-powered.

Outside gas cooked food still tastes infinitely better than indoor electric cooked food ?

We have tried the complicated stuff but find a cheapie £10 portable single ring gas stove suits us better its quick easy to clean takes hardly any room and weighs very little.
I agree, I have loads of BBQ’s but use a portable one with a cast iron griddle when en route and I get excellent steaks, crispy on the outside, going through to a line of pinky red in the middle!

Get to a site and out comes the over priced, over complicated, harder to clean BBQ lol

Note to self?

Looks little differen to my £10 jobby and a non stick pan at £20 all in!

I love my cadac but not sure I would have another, I use it mostly as a big outdoor hob rather than a bbq because I can’t be bothered with the cleaning.

At a quoted 73 kg for the large one or 99kg for the XXL - even before the chosen stand - it would make a fair dent in payload. And be hard to manoeuvre out of a garage... Great barbecue, though - our son’s got one.

We have a trauma external bbq connection point on our motorhome, can anyone advise on what’s needed to connect this to a bbq?

The male end of this when split (pull back spring clip and they seperate) ?. These are quick connectors, I made a short Y with gas pipe so I can run an oven and BBQ at the same time, always have the female end on any supply and male on the item you are connecting http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5...0001&campid=5338547443&icep_item=163753010692

I also used these clips, you can buy the pinching tool http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5...0001&campid=5338547443&icep_item=171475752857

Just work out how many connectors you need, a male and female on each set, cheaper to buy a few, as stated always female from source as cuts off supply, male enters to release supply, so male on BBQ gas hose ?

Yes, BUT you need to deal with the Weber end that is set up for the gas cans, I have left to go up north but I believe you need this connectors to change with the one on the Weber, remember the thread goes in the opposite direction, so tighten to un tighten and vice versa if that makes sense, it means you can quickly disconnect or in fact just leave the connector and hose on the Weber end and disconnect from the BBQ gas point, note these fast connectors will work with any hose but fit the BBQ point, just pull back the ring on the male to release ?.

If using the pinching too, don’t go mad on one side first, do a bit of pinch each side until nice and tight, make sure you get the right size rings for your hose, remember it will expand slightly as it goes over the connectors so allow for that, I believe the link I sent you was for a selection pack, they have the sizes engraved on each one ?

Don’t buy the tin foil trays from Weber for underneath you can get them from loads of places for a quarter of the price, I bought a load that came with cardboard lids so I suppose for like a Chinese takeaway, just measure the tray and check available height for slipping under ?

+ 1 for that .... and line the tins with foil then just dispose of the foil and reuse the tray ?

I will be looking for an ecofriendly, reusable solution that i will scrape/wash out and reuse to minimise waste.

We used the lava rock one above for a few years, was good and cheap although it had major cool spots and we got through one a year (base rotted, although we did use it a lot).

Love our Q1200 and would not have anything else now, we’ll worth the money.

If your budget doesn’t run to the rotisserie (ours didn’t) you can use indirect cooking for whole joints, slow cooking etc. and it’s works exceptionally well and produces delicious moist meat. We didn’t splash out on Weber accessories either I just use an upturned 1” baking tray to lift it off the heat.

More than happy to receive a BBQ invite at your van now you have one of them
That wouldn't be a problem...you can show me how to use it. ;) I don't mind which steak you want to bring.

Thanks, will take you up on that one day. As said earlier we have a large Char-Broil-BBQ with the TRU-Infrared at home and it cooks steaks and other food great with no burnups. Just making sure you are aware that the portable one uses screw fit gas cartridges, Amazon sell the Char-Broil 140 532 - Hose and Regulator Adaptor Kit to connect to Calor Patio Gas refill bottles but you cannot connect it to the vans gas supply by just cutting the end off the hose, something about the gas pressure. Just return the BBQ back to Amazon if you want to use the vans supply.

I only found that out this morning by reading the reviews for the gas hose on amazon. Learning all the time.
