Garmin satnav updates

I have just purchased a garmin 780 camper satnav. I pootled thru the setup till I got to installing any outstanding updates. It says there are some and it will take 5 hrs to install them!!! It also says not to interrupt or stop installation as the device might be corrupted. Is this normal? I think it said there were 13 mb to install. I haven’t set it off as I
doubt the battery would last five hours

Can I ask where you got that upper size limit from please? My 780 is refusing to update its maps for the first time from Garmin Express, but giving me this error message which suggests that it can't cope with greater than 32Gb

Yeah.. it's painfully slow. I just leave it connected and leave it to get on with it.

I updated our camper 770 yesterday with new map and a software update. Initially it stated 5 hours, but in the end it was around an hour or so connected to onsite wifi and via Garmin express on the windows lappy.
