My local indy (CVS) closed last year so I'm shopping around to get the timing belt changed.
I'm waiting for replies from two and have priced Sherwoods main dealer at £900ish.

Any recommendations for suitable garages welcome.:giggle:

The industry is shocking, nobody seems to want to do anything these days. Maybe ask NE Leisure Tech to price match.
In my book, if they were worth supporting they should have been competetive in the first place. I'd still like to find one of those £300+ indy quotes that people on here have mentioned but at this stage I would just be happy now if the ones whosaid they would get back to me with a price actually did so.

When my timing belt went I took it to the garage I used for my car. It's Hebburn M.O.T. test centre and repair. Fiona's at the desk and will be only too happy to help.

Thanks, they're on the list to ring Monday. Can I ask how much they charged you and what engine you have?
£1000 it’s an A class 2.5 comfortmatic. He is fair with his pricing and what needs to be done.

Well I'm booked in for Tuesday. Team Valley MOT have been absolutely the most professional so far and in terms of knowing not only the vehicle but also a quick response with their quote. They're charging £799 for an A Class timing belt change including pump, tensioners, coolant and a full (not interim) service. Thanks to TG1903 for the recommend and to everyone else who have jumped in with suggested repairers.

All Change. I took my MH into Team Valley Service and MOT this morning but they reneged on the quoted deal.
They had told me it included Belt, pump, tensioners, and a FULL service, spelling out to me what was included in the service element, eg auxillary belts, coolant, all done using Mercedes parts.

When I arived this morning they denied saying anything about a service. Funny because I wrote down what they said while on the phone to them. I called them liars and accused them of covering up their mistake and left.

I'm now booked into Durham Automedics (Thanks for the suggestion Cobra) for £677, saving me £120.

That’s shocking service, hopefully you find Durham Automedics ok 👍
Durham Automedics were fine. There is a lovely manered lass on the phone and card machine and the job went without hitch and with good communications.
It would be churlish to find any fault but the guy who arrived when re rang the bell needs to go to charm school. He kept us waiting at the hatch without even looking up for quite a few minutes and when he decided it was time to open the hatch, he simply said NAME? without looking up and took the keys without a further word. We signed the disclaimer and left without another word or eye contact. OK I know that not everyone is good with people but....

Just got to say that despite my very bad experience with Team Valley MOTs, due to their pricing error and dishonesty covering this up, they have top ratings on all review sites (except my reviews now) and are probably a useful resource for motorhomers in the Tyne and Wear area.

I find it very strange when you don’t get good customer service these days, especially eye contact 🤨 I’m just after a quick conversation and a thank you ill see you later when I pick it up. Good everything sorted now for you 👍

With the very sad demise of Leisure Tech NE last year, who are all the former customers using for servicing?

Given up for now.

Now had three that didn't want to do A Class.
Must have rung about 30 today, only two interested. One main Ducato dealer £900 and a main motorhome dealer who is to ring back with price.

Looks like I'll end up paying through the nose for this.

Just found an independant. North East Motorhome repairs (Hogarth Coachworks) waiting for estimate. They say A class is a lot more work.
I know it’s a long way from you, ( I suppose you could make a holiday of it) but we used Reno-Tech based in Llandudno Junction, North Wales in May last year. They replaced timing belt and water pump on our Hymer A-class B654. Excellent service and professional. This was the first time we’d used them but since have used them for MOT renewal.

No sad demise of Leisure Tech North east IMHO- we were ripped off, lied to, and left with a half completed job to sort out. No wonder they went belly up!
For the Fiat side of the van we now use Stonehouse Garage in Lingdale -

I’m sorry to hear that. They were ways fantastic with us. The story we’re told was that the landlord put the rent up to unsustainable levels. Hopefully we weren’t mislead. I can imagine if your van was in when they went it would have been a nightmare.

On looking at the winding up statement at Companies House my understanding is there was just under £200K owed out -
Our issues had nothing whatsoever to do with the company going pop -
We live and learn - every day is a school day!

Might be a bit late for you but MTM motors at Sunderland Alexandra bridge did my Ducato pvc 2 years ago for £380.
That was for belt,pump etc.
