Garage Recommends - North East (timing belt change due)

My local indy (CVS) closed last year so I'm shopping around to get the timing belt changed.
I'm waiting for replies from two and have priced Sherwoods main dealer at £900ish.

Any recommendations for suitable garages welcome.:giggle:

Not sure where you are located the North East but have heard a couple of decent recommendations for this garage. Not used them myself.

They probably are good. Their response was that they are very busy and tend to look after customers they have already got.

Found a one that does motorhomes, as soon as I said A Class they said they couldn't do it.

Given up for now.

Now had three that didn't want to do A Class.
Must have rung about 30 today, only two interested. One main Ducato dealer £900 and a main motorhome dealer who is to ring back with price.

Looks like I'll end up paying through the nose for this.

Just found an independant. North East Motorhome repairs (Hogarth Coachworks) waiting for estimate. They say A class is a lot more work.

I priced a smallish body repair at Hogarth, quoted £2000 then rang to say he would do it for £1000 cash. Went to a local bodyshop who quoted and did the work for £380!

Ferguson's at Seaham have a large garage and cater for motorhomes.

You could try Commercial Motor Repairs in Sunderland ( 01915108648), I have used them before for a steering rack replacement as well as servicing, they had previously reckoned on about £600 for the belt change on my X290, but when I mentioned was wanting the belt and water pump changed last year they were suddenly too busy, A lot of other garages also did not want to touch the water pump and I ended up going to SG Petch (Fiat Proffesional) down by Middlesbrough. That was about £900, and they told me I would be £50 extra if it was an A Class. They had the Van from 0900 to 1500 so it was all done the same day.

Tyne Valley Motorhomes use Charlotte Street Garage Stanley for their customers base vehicle servicing and MOT. Had my coachbuilt done there for a number of years. Not sure about cambelts or A class. Tel. 01207232845.

After 2 days solid googling and phoning I have got nowhere yet. I have had a lot of nos and a lot of we'll phone you backs that didn't. I've phoned back those that didn't get back to me, they apologise and say they will look into it and get back to me again. I'll await their calls without much enthusiasm.
The only positive I've had is from the Fiat Professional who said £190 plus or minus.

Thanks, I thought they were just service and MOT like so many but I see they do cam belts. I'll ring them monday. (Only 3 miles away)

Funny how businesses don't get back to you these days. Don't they wan't the business?
When I was in business I insisted that phones were answered within a couple of rings, and calls were always returned, even if it was to say we couldn't help.

Especially when the main Fiat Professional dealer said £900. Now got me wondering whether they'll add VAT on top of the £900.

The good thing is they are the only one that has got back to with a price as promised out of about eight.

The industry is shocking, nobody seems to want to do anything these days. Maybe ask NE Leisure Tech to price match.
