Funsters' views on Tefal Ingenio?

We've got the induction ones indoors and a light weight set for the motorhome. Absolutely brilliant. We bought the lightweight ones in France.

I bought a set in France three years ago. Then a set off Amazon France. I also bought a lidl set for the van. I love them. They are lightweight and long lasting.

We got a set in France 12 years ago, still using them. Store them with cloverleaf packing.

We have the induction set plus an extra handle, absolutely brilliant, when in hotter climes we cook outside in our awning on an Aldi induction hob, perfect for us.

There spot on 👍

We have just placed an order for our new campervan but won't get it until June/July next year.
So, I will start to investigate all the things I might/will need over the coming months ready to hit the ground running on handover. I want to have all that I need without buying loads ofvtat that will never see the light of day.

First up is a set of pans.
Anyone used the Tefal Ingenio and would you recommend? If so, which set?
Yes we love ours, I got a sauté pan for one pots, a small frying pan for omelettes etc, a large and small sauce pan. All sit in one stack with the lids and all cooking needs are covered. I also got loads for each saucepan and 2 handles. Couldn’t find a lid for sauté pan So have one from an old pan that I use.

I really like them, bought a set at Clark’s village and use the bigger ones in the house. Should have bought the induction ones though as we’re looking at a new kitchen! Not such a bargain after all.

I think they look great, I was about to buy amazon‘s version of them which also got great reviews and were cheaper, when I found a new double skillet on eBay (y) Just need to get the van finished now:LOL:
apparently the ingenio pans can often be picked up cheaper in French supermarket.

Look out for an equivalent type of set up in Lidl at s much lower price and we have had no problem with them.

Last year I bought the Lidl equivalent set of non-stick pans for about £20. When unboxed, all except the smallest pans were too wide for the compact gas hob in our van so the set remains unused and needs to be resold when I get around to it. We use normal stainless steel saucepans and glass lids that don't take up much drawer space even though the handles are fixed. We don't do a lot of cooking on tour so the cost of Ingenio is hard to justify.

We looked at the ingenio and the various sets. In the end we went for the Outwell feast set. The handles screw on and the quality of the pans is excellent. They're light but very thick so could even be used in the oven without warping and the non stick coating inside has dimples rather than a flat smooth surface which often means things eventually do still stick. We got the Large set as there are 2 of us and the 3 pans are enough for us to cook all our meals with.
Worth looking at as I've had some quality problems with Tefal pans in the past and some of the reviews indicated problems which slightly put me off. Plus the price of the Tefal sets was pretty high and there were a lot of pans in the sets that I didn't want and I'd have had to get a pricey set to get the pans I did want.

Also... as you have time... keep an eye on the French Amazon.fr I bought mine via them, half the price of the UK site.
Pretty sure we bought our stainless steel set for the van off the same site for that reason (some years ago now). Wouldn’t be without them.

We bought a full set about 5 years ago. Ours work on any heat source, including induction, and the non-stick has been good (but not in regular use and nothing this year). They stack well, thanks to the removable handles (get at least two), but the induction ones are quite heavy (payload is an issue for us). There are too many pans and accessories in a full set (but full sets came cheaper than buying pans individually) and the biggest pans are larger than what you are ‘supposed’ to use on many of the gas hobs provided in motorhomes.

Tefal is French and, since buying, we have seen many variants for sale in France on a pick ‘n mix basis (with/without induction, with/without non-stick and made of different materials in varying colours). Colour should be unimportant but we’ve even seen them in Aluminium which would be better for payload. So, if you can afford to be patient, it may be worth waiting until you have the chance to buy exactly what you need over there.

In short, I think they are good, but I’m sure there are others.

Are they worth it? Only you can decide…

We've had some since 2011, we got them in Auchan in France when there was a big discount on, the set we got consisted of 3 saucepans, 1 frying pan and 1 saute pan with lid (deeper sides), 2 storage lids for the 2 larger saucepans so they can be put in the fridge and a removable handle. We use the 2 small saucepans and saute pan in the camper, supplemented by a a small 'double skillet' and an old aluminium 'milk' jug type pan thing which hubby loves (he does the cooking now). The Tefals have worn very well despite hubby's best efforts to 'kill' them, they do have some scratching on the non-stick base from using metal utensils :( but nothing to stop them being usable. You do need 2 handles however they are heavy so can easily tip the smaller pan up if you're not careful so we bought some cheaper ones which are lighter but unfortunately they have badly scratched the top part of the non-stick where they clamp as they don't have any protective 'silicone' pads on them as the Tefal ones do, so if you do get a non-Tefal handle put something on the edge of the pan first before clamping the handle on.

I did buy a much cheaper set of 3 pans from Gifi a good few years ago, thinking that the Tefal ones wouldn't last that long, but as they have the new set has been residing in the attic for many years!

There's a massive choice of pans in France much more than you can get here and some of the larger supermarkets do their own version of stackable ones, with removable or folding handles, so if you can wait until you have a trip there you'll be able to get exactly what you want.

Brilliant kit...totally endorse them

My Moho has a ceramic type hob (diesel) so can't use all types of pans. I went for Judge stockpot pans as they are tall, smaller footprint, sit inside each other and have small handles that don't get in the way

For me, having to mess about with a clip on handle doesn't cut it in the kitchen🙂

It's no hassle if you buy a second handle..Best pans we have ever had in the van.BUSBY.

We bought two sets as they were cheap, had the tefal set for about ten years. The Lidl ones losing are losing a lot of the non stick coating, more than the tefal after ten years, but still happy with them for the price, about £14 for the set off the top of my head, others were €90 with only plastic lids. Pack away so neatly, love them.

I have the stainless set. They’re not light but they’re a good quality and compact for storage. I bought the set of 3 pans plus 2 frying pans - I’ve used all of them plus glass lids and handles but not the plastic lids.

I only have a plastic lid for the small pan which is quite useful for leftovers. Once food cooled can cover with the plastic lid and put in the fridge.

Thank you all for your responses. Having read them, I have the following feelings:
1) I am pretty much set on a set of these pans I hate messing around with pans with handles, even at home. 2) I think I will go for all non stick saucepans and frying pans for ease of clean up
3) I will probably go for the stainless steel version with the harder non stick coating to hopefully last longer 4) I definitely want two handles
5) I will keep a look out on Amazon.fr. I appreciate the comments about buying in France, but we will be using our van first in UK so don't want to waste money on other pans for our early touring
6) Wish I had heard about these before. We have been taking our caravan to France for 10 years and they were never on our radar.
Thanks again

Psst .... would this do? They might be willing to post ... the lids alone are expensive so this is a good price especially as it includes 2 handles:

I just had to read this thread, excuse my ignorance but I thought it was about Chelsea's latest signing

Argos currently have 3 stainless Ingenio pans and a handle for £60. Ours are brilliant. Silicon lids worth getting.
