like everybody on here our vans have been dormant for a good while, oil will have fallen to the sump and so oil will need to be pumped round the engine before it fires up and shudders into lifer after a long cold rest. so.. anybody know where to find the injector fuse on a 2017 fiat ducato 2.3 so i can pull it to let the engine get some oil before letting it fire up ?
i can find no mention of an injector fuse anywhere, which surprises me, so how can i turn over the engine to get the oil round before firing it up ?

Look at it this way.....when the base vehicle was driven out of the factory it went into a massive storage area at the factory.
Many months or even later it was started and driven to a dispatch area.
Did they ensure oil was circulated before the engine fired....
NO! It was started and driven.
I think you worry too much

If you do pull a fuse or disconnect anything with modern electrical systems you may get a fault light come on at the dash display that needs to be reset at a dealer.
If you still feel you need to do this You could try activating the fuel safety cut off switch but I dont know if it will turn over if this is done (Its position / details should be in your Fiat handbook)

Every time you change the oil it all falls into the sump
When you fire it up It also has to fill the oil filter - the residual oil covering all component's is enough for that 10 seconds.
Just as it was designed by the factory

I SORN a car over winter and just give it 30 secs on idle after starting, when taking it out again. I don't think any more is needed.

as you say, it was started up by some one who didnt give a rats arse, why would he, anyway having worked at both Longbridge and Jaguar there is no other way to move a vehicle once its assembled, but its unfortunate as its the best way to cause bore wear as moisture in the bore without lubrication causes accelerated wear. Its the reason why you dont idle an engine before using it on the open road as it never fully warms up. Conversely I do care as I invested 40k in it, anyway, are we also going to ignore the fact that cold starting an engine with no oil in the pipes causes more wear in 10 seconds than 12 months of use. So yes i worry that a van with only 2k on the engine becomes worn before i get a chance to wear it out by annoying the french some more.
I think ignorance is bliss.

Many years ago, what you're worried about may have been a problem and yes it would have been better if it had been driven but,
not ALL the oil has run down into the sump.
Some is trapped in the pipes, filter, galleries etc. so that when you start it, its already there!

Check the dipstick (if you have one) when cold, top up if needed and start engine

The only time to worry, is IF the oil light takes a long time to extinguish! (y)

thanks gents, so nobody knows then eh ? fuel pump fuse ?

It may be simpler to just remove the fuel pump cover between the front seats and disconnect the pump wiring.

Don't turn the engine over on the stater motor until oil has circulated around the engine though :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Modern day oils deal with your worries quite adequately.

It's slightly concerning that, someone who worked in Jaguars and Longbridge and know what practices happened there,
should be worried about this and that modern oils might not protect one's engine against these practices??

I know this should not concern M/H's but most of us have cars too!

EDIT: For the fuse, have you tried looking in your handbook, all fuses are normally in there?

i am now slightly worried that hobo is slightly concerned :)

Under the bonnet on nearside inner wing, both fuse and relay

WORRYING ISNT IT..

If you deactivate the the electric fuel pump the engine will still start with what fuel is in the filter, & fuel lines
