We’ve just done a trip from N.Wales to York and back including a few dozen miles pootling around to Scarborough and Dalby Forest.

Motorway is normally cruise control at 60-65mph.

Used almost a full tank.

Got 20mph out of her and about 23p/mile, with the Memsahib and 16yr old gene puddle plus a full load of bikes and kit on board. Plus MrsW had loaded the spare can opener and heavy bedsheets when I wasn’t looking...

It’s the standard Ducato 2.3TD 130bhp manual base.

How does this compare?

Have a 10 month old Autotrail Imala 620 with 2.3 Euro 6 engine and 7000 miles on clock. I get around 25 mpg according to dash display and about the same if I calculate it. I drive motorway at 55 to 60 and other roads 50 ish. A previous 2.3 Swift Euro 4 driven the same way used to do 32 mpg. All I can conclude is that the latest emissions requirements have knocked 20 percent off the economy. To make it worse they havery only fitted a small diesel tank. I seem to stop for fuel twice a day on a longer run.

That fuel consumption figure is too much for a 2.3 Euro 6 driven in the way you described. It needs further investigation.

We have had 3 150 bhp Fiats first one Euro 5+ manual it did a average of 25.9, second Euro 6 comfortmatic 25.7 average, the latest euro 6 manual average at the moment but with only 250 miles on the clock 25.9 these were all 3500 kg motorhomes.

Having had 3 vans they all did/do 25mpg. Difference was the speed driven. One 55-60; then 60-65; while present "keeps up with traffic" on the French motorways. :)

Yes. I think the current Autotrail front end is as Aerodynamic as a brick!

DSCF2195.JPG Really pleased I followed this thread as I thought my ex nhs emergency ambulance conversion was juicy (4600 kilos max). It is an old ford transit 2.4i diesel direct injection with turbo and while I was converting her and using as a run around I was getting 22 mpg. Having taken a grinder to get rid of the weight and trying hard to get her under 3500 kilos (I am north of 70 and did not renew my C1, so needed to get her rated at e500) fully kitted she is doing 26-27 mpg if I keep her at 55-60 mph. So judging by what some of you guys are getting from modern vehicles I am not doing to bad.

I drive mine using the range setting. Fill it up and go, range usually reads app 560 miles to go after fill up. This increases on the go, once it read 670 miles to go,that was after about 50miles covered, I was taking it easey though, lorries overtaking as well.

One fill up usually lasts for two trips out and back, I do not do mpg, to me it’s how far I have left on my journey, if I still have a way to go and the range indicates around 125miles to go and I am stuck in traffic as happened once, and the range was dropping with me going nowhere, I did panic, dropped off the motorway ASAP, found a garage, and filled up. Found out what and where the hold up was and re-routed.

All I do is when looking at a trip away is add up the mileage approximately divided by 23mpg and work out what it would roughly cost to go. Then budget or decide if to go or not.

We average 25 mpg, swift bolero 684 auto euro 6, we had the auto-trail tracker before but got less as not as aerodynamic.
Hope that helps.

I average around 26-27mpg dual carriageway
Motorways, with Speedo reading 55mph,not towing, 22mpg+ when towing 107 Pugeot
My van is 2005 HYMER Mercedes base 2700cc loaded to 3.8t. I have been known to squeeze 31mpg but that's a rareity, I would drop your speed to 55mph and see the difference. I check it tankfull to tankfull every time I fill, I can't really afford to drive with the attitude that it does what it does I'm not that rich.

I know what you mean, I just use 23mpg as a yard stick, if do better it’s a bonus but better to be surprised then disappointed.

Re post 73, gwyntaxi has quoted Glas Robin. A thought has just entered my pea brained head:confused:. What size fuel tank is on your MH? on my Elddis 175, it is a large tank, can’t remember from top of my head at present. Around 120 litres ish. Large I know, and 20mpg is near Rolls Royce mpg around 18mpg they are. If that was my moho, I would have that looked into.

By the way, what is the mileage range in total for your tank, or to put it another way how many miles can you do between fill ups?

If its any consolation to those with heavy fuel consumption, I used to have a Honda Firestorm 1000cc motorbike

When ridden hard, it returned 25mpg and only had a 3 1/2 gallon tank!

Basically you had to gas up after about 75 miles

I loved that bike!

Hi travelling around Spain 2000 miles + was getting 23.4 now 23.1 reduced by travelling the length of the N261up and down mountains, nightmare road we now call it, about 100 miles long could not get off it and onto a decent road finished up at Leon , free Aire on carpark city centre

I'm getting 31.3 with 2.3 Ducato. Never go above 65 on the motorway but we never rush anywhere

Our old neibour had one and got the same mpg. I asked why he got it and he said because it does great wheelies.

Tried recording mileage and keeping fuel receipts loads of times.............. never got round to working out mpg

.........finally figured out why I never did the calcs

........I'm not that bothered

If I couldn't afford to go - I wouldn't.........

Barclaybasher, that sounds about right, if you cannot afford to go, that is the thing. Irrespective of how hard anyone puts there foot down or not, fast or slow, or whatever pace one wants to go at, that is the thing and it still comes back to what Barclaybasher said.

2012 - 2.3 - 130 Hp Euro 5 - Fiat 3.5 tonne - Low roof Burstner.
Anything less than 31 MPG is a real disappointment for me. I guess I average around 35 MPG.
It has been upto 38 MPG but I do drive Miss Daisy and no rush. I tend to cruise at 50/55mph.

Every vehicle I've had in the last 20 years tells you the average and instantaneous fuel consumption. Nothing to record or calculate.

Not on my 1991 Eriba or 2001 Mobilvetta...

On our last return trip to Spain on our 4.6L 7.5t Man using the western toll free route at (or about) the legal limit we averaged 18.35 mpg.
