It makes sense now but a while back, early in the morning having packed everything for a fortnight away, I switched on the fridge. Gave it 45 mins to an hour, checked temperature - nothing. Panicking that the fridge had packed up and we had a stack of fresh food, and in a hurry to get going, I checked through the manuals for a possible reason. Nothing stood out, then I caught a line saying the fridge won't operate if it's on an incline. My drive is on a bit of a slope and I'd parked it straighter than usual which had put it on more of an incline. So I moved it and yay, fridge came on. Panick over. Thought I'd mention it even if it is humiliating :)

Our drive has quite a severe slope side to side. The fridge works fine when we pack prior to leaving.

Fridge side-to-side tilt is worse than fridge front-to-back tilt. Usually that's motorhome front-to-back tilt because fridges are usually sideways on in the motorhome kitchen area.

At least it re-started quickly. If the fridge doesn't restart, maybe a bit of a drive will get it working again. A similar thing happened to us, parked on a friend's drive overnight, on a slope. Fridge stopped working. Moving it to a level spot, the fridge still wouldn't start working. Switched the fridge off and drove home, 100 miles. Back home on the (level) drive, turned the fridge on and it worked OK.

We don't do spirit level, level, and infact sometimes at a fare tilt..
However have never noticed and issues with our current van and dometic fridge freezer or indeed our last van and c'van before that all fitted with same twin door Dometic fridge /freezer.. !!

It won't do anything in an hour, needs to be on for quite a few hours before it starts to get cool, 12 to 24 hours to get it properly down to

Yes definitely a few hours needed, but I can tell within an hour on mine if it's working.

Yeah the on/off trick goes without saying with any tech!

It certainly stumped me for a while, but it's in the manual so at least that confirms it's a thing!
