Hi I’d be grateful for any pointers.

Just getting the van ready for a weekend trip away and thought I’d get the fridge cooling on the gas.

For some reason it won’t run on gas. I’ve tried auto mode and manually selecting gas but on both the warning light comes on and the led below the gas symbol flashes.

I’ve tried resetting it a few times with a long press on the power button until the fridge switches off… but still got the same issue!

It’s a dometic 3 way fridge.

Any thoughts? Thanks

I’ve lit the gas hob and left it on for a few minutes and it’s all fine, so there is definitely gas coming through.

On my 8 series Dometic fridge you need to press the triangle/ ! button to reset for gas operation when it fails to operate first time , maybe yours is the same ?

Mine tries to light on gas 3 times if it does not light in those 3 tries you have to reset the fridge mine you press down on the start button for a couple of seconds, then it will try again. It can take several seconds for the gas to get flowing and fill the pipes, before it will light, especially when it has been turned off for a week or more. They are delicate little 🌺 flowers

Thanks everyone, I went back and tried again and it worked like normal. We only got the van in November so hopefully it doesn’t need servicing/flue cleaning yet. I didn’t even realise the triangle/! was a pressable button… I’ll give that a go if it happens again. Thank you

Did you use any of the suggested solutions, or did it work again of its own accord?
We have the same problem, having never used it on gas previously, and have it booked in with the vendor in a couple of weeks. When I get it from the yard tomorrow I will try the suggestions.

Over the years I've had serval places service my 3 way Dometic fridge with varying success.
Last year I took it Dometic themselves, just off the M5 at tewkesbury, they were the cheapest, quickest and boy did they do a good, the fridge now starts easily and works perfectly.
Better than new!!! I wouldn't go any else now.

If the triangle/ ! does not work or is not a button try pressing the on/off button for 2 seconds to reset the fridge , if needed , after trying it a few times to get the gas through (if it is a series 10 Dometic fridge)

I had the fault 51 on the series 10 fridge only a year old looks like you have to take fridge out to get to the burner but a few knocks on burner shroud and it finally lit.

Thank goodness the traditional British engineering skills are not dead!
If it don’t work, hit it with something……………😁

I just left it switched off for half an hour and then went back and switched it back on. No idea why it worked this time but pleased it has. If it happens again I’ll try some of the things suggested on this thread. Thanks all!

It does take a surprising amount of time for the gas to come through sometimes if it hasn’t been used for a whole…

That is surprising, I’m not very technical but I’d have thought that there was sufficient pressure in the system for the gas to come through pretty quickly. Oh well, good to know for next time… and yes it’s been about 2 weeks since we last used the van. Thanks for everyone’s help.
