Hi all. My son and family have just arrived on site in West Wales (in wind and rain!). Unfortunately his fridge is tripping the electrics when put on 240v. It is working on gas and I assume 12v when travelling. He has had the van, a 2004 Swift, about 9 months and not had a problem before. I’m pretty sure it’s a Dometic. Any ideas, advice appreciated

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
Do you mean tripping the van 240v electrics or the EHU pillar’s trip switches?
From the title it seems that it's the site pillar...........

Fridge tripping site box on 240v

Unfortunately his fridge is tripping the electrics when put on 240v.

If so, turn off the 240v supply to the fridge, then if the site pillar resets O.K. turn on the fridge supply and if the pillar trips it's likely that the 240v heating element in the fridge has failed and is short circuiting. Normally the trip in the m/h would react first but I've been on a site when the pillar RCD reacted quicker than the one in the m/h.
If the above doesn't work it's possible that there's a short 'twixt pillar and the m/h trip units. You say it's raining and windy so maybe there's water in the m/h's EHU inlet socket or the hook-up lead plugs?
